Gameplay Mechanics

Descendants of Darkness, players have diverse ways to experience the game. One option is immersive roleplay, where individuals can explore the intricacies of various species. Another avenue involves forming or joining families, cultivating strong bonds with fellow players. Additionally, combat is a prominent feature, allowing for strategic encounters and player-versus-player confrontations.

Combat

Many players enjoy using the HUD for combat. To initiate an attack, you need to be within a 1.5-meter range of your target. Then, click on the main HUD button and select the strength of your attack. This enables you to engage with another player. However, it's crucial to be cautious as they can retaliate. Players utilize secondary HUDs for combat, incorporating followers and speed boosters. When a player attaches a follower to you, they will trail behind. If you move, they'll stay close, making it easier for them to attack. Conversely, if you attach a follower to them, you'll both collide, jostling around. This is where the speed booster becomes useful. It allows your avatar to move swiftly, enabling you to create distance from your opponent. They may employ a similar strategy, initiating combat as you maneuver.

Safe Zones

Within designated Safe Zones, the game HUD restricts combat actions. Presently, the sole Safe Zone in the game is located at the A&D (Angels and Demons) sims. We don't provide Safe Zones for individual homes or other establishments.

Feeding and Blood Levels

In the first age group, all players can initially hold 5.000 liters of blood. Each day at midnight, they lose 0.500 liters. A player can survive for 10 days without feeding. If you start with 5.000 liters of blood on Monday, you will be dead on Thursday of the following week. Feeding replenishes your health/blood by initiating an attack. To feed, approach an avatar and be within 1.5 meters, click the main HUD button, and choose your attack. After an initial 5-second attack, you'll observe your health increasing. Once this occurs, you can move back up to 5.0 meters and continue feeding. You can feed from any direction once the initial 5 seconds have elapsed.

Additionally, you can scan another avatar to check their health. If you scan a deceased avatar, it will display "[their name] is a Sanguinolus Nullis. They were killed by [Name of the person that killed them]." "Sanguinolus Nullis" translates to "without blood" in Latin. If the player has never been fed from, it will indicate "[their name] is a new fleshy human full of blood."

The human scan feature includes the following status labels to indicate the amount of blood each human has:

Novus Sanguis (New Blooded)
This means the human has never been fed on and is totally full of blood - all 5.0 liters of it!
Sanguis Nullus (No Blood)
If you see this, the human has been completely drained and is basically a goner.
Sanguis Plenus (Full of Blood)
The human has at least 4.0 liters of blood, so they're pretty much full to the brim.
Sanguis Medius (Moderate Blood)
This label means the human has between 2.0 and 4.0 liters of blood left, so they're halfway there.
Sanguis Exiguus (Little Blood)
If a human has this label, they've got less than 2.0 liters of blood left - better be careful with them!
Status Ignotus (Unknown Status)
You shouldn't see this one pop up, but if you do, it means something weird is going on with the human's blood level.

Species-Specific Attacks

Each species has different attacks for roleplay purposes, but attack damage and rate remain consistent within the same age group.
