An Arch is the | An Arch is the leader and progenitor of a Bloodline and holds one of the highest positions of leadership, influence, and trust within Descendants of Darkness.
An Arch is responsible for the growth, identity, strength, and direction of their Bloodline while also contributing to the continued health and development of Descendants of Darkness as a whole.
The position is intended for established community leaders who have demonstrated sustained leadership, loyalty, judgement, influence, and the ability to lead a major lineage within the game.
__TOC__ | __TOC__ | ||
== | == Requirements == | ||
To be considered for recognition as an Arch, a player must meet and continue to uphold the requirements of the position.
* The prospective Arch must have a minimum of 125 qualifying active followers, as determined by the current game eligibility rules.
* They must have an established presence within Descendants of Darkness and demonstrate the ability to lead a large community.
* They must remain in good standing within the game and its wider community.
* They must demonstrate appropriate leadership, conduct, judgement, and community involvement for a position of this level.
* They must actively support the continued growth and betterment of Descendants of Darkness as a whole, not solely the interests of their own Bloodline.
* They must avoid positions or activities that create a significant conflict of interest with their responsibilities as an Arch.
* They must be capable of maintaining and developing a Bloodline as a meaningful, active, and recognisable part of the wider game.
=== Qualifying active followers ===
Whether a follower qualifies toward the total is determined by the system using the current eligibility rules of Descendants of Darkness.
Inactive, dead, or otherwise invalid accounts do not count toward the requirement, and the follower total shown by the system at any given time reflects those rules rather than the total number of players ever turned or claimed.
The eligibility rules may be updated as Descendants of Darkness develops. The requirement is always measured against the rules in force at the time it is assessed.
<div style="border-left:4px solid #8b1a1a; background:rgba(139,26,26,0.06); padding:0.7em 1em; margin:1em 0;">
Reaching 125 qualifying active followers establishes eligibility for consideration. It does not automatically grant Arch status or the creation of a new Bloodline.
</div> | |||
Recognition remains subject to the responsibilities of the role, the current Arch capacity, the suitability of the prospective Arch, and the needs and balance of the wider Descendants of Darkness community.
== Arch capacity and recognition ==
The number of recognised Archs within Descendants of Darkness is intentionally limited.
Arch positions are maintained in proportion to the size, activity, and overall health of the active player base. As the community grows, additional Arch positions may become available.
This limit exists to preserve the significance of the Arch position and prevent the Bloodline structure from becoming unnecessarily fragmented or diluted.
Archs are intended to represent major, established lineages within Descendants of Darkness. A new Bloodline will therefore not be created simply because another player reaches the minimum follower requirement.
When considering whether an additional Arch should be recognised, factors may include:
* The current number of recognised Archs.
* The size and activity of the wider player base.
* The number and health of existing Bloodlines.
* Whether another major lineage would strengthen or unnecessarily fragment the existing community.
* The prospective Arch's leadership history and suitability for the position.
* Their ability to sustain a meaningful Bloodline rather than simply reach the numerical requirement.
* The long-term interests and balance of Descendants of Darkness.
No fixed ratio of Archs to players is published or guaranteed. Capacity remains a discretionary judgement based on the active population, the health of existing Bloodlines, and the overall balance of the game.
Where the current Arch capacity has been reached, an otherwise eligible player may remain eligible for future consideration when the community grows or an Arch position becomes available.
The Arch capacity may be adjusted over time as Descendants of Darkness grows and evolves.
There is therefore no permanent entitlement to Arch recognition solely through reaching the follower requirement.
The purpose is not to prevent successful players from progressing, but to ensure that becoming an Arch remains a significant achievement and that every recognised Bloodline has enough identity, influence, activity, and community around it to remain meaningful.
== Authority of an Arch ==
An Arch holds authority and influence within their own Bloodline but is not automatically a member of Descendants of Darkness staff or administration.
Arch status does not grant moderation powers, authority over unrelated players, or the ability to make decisions on behalf of Descendants of Darkness itself unless that authority has been separately granted.
<div style="border:1px solid rgba(139,26,26,0.55); border-left:4px solid #8b1a1a; background:rgba(139,26,26,0.06); padding:1em 1.2em; margin:1.2em 0; font-size:1.05em; font-style:italic;">
An Arch leads a Bloodline. They do not govern Descendants of Darkness.
</div> | |||
Within their Bloodline, however, the Arch is its recognised leader and may establish its leadership structure, direction, alliances, rivalries, internal expectations, and approach to gameplay within the rules of Descendants of Darkness.
=== Independence and leadership style ===
An Arch is trusted with substantial independence in how they organise and lead their Bloodline.
Different Archs may have very different leadership styles.
Some Bloodlines may be diplomatic and cooperative, while others may be highly competitive, aggressive, territorial, politically driven, or strongly focused on combat.
This diversity is permitted and encouraged provided the Bloodline operates within the rules of Descendants of Darkness.
The Arch position should not remove personality, rivalry, ambition, or strength from the player holding it.
Archs are expected to be leaders, not identical representatives following a single personality or style.
== Loyalty and conflicts of interest ==
An Arch is expected to maintain a clear commitment to Descendants of Darkness while holding the position.
Archs may participate socially in other communities, games, or systems. Holding the Arch position does not prevent someone from having friends, interests, or activities elsewhere.
However, an Arch must not simultaneously hold a major leadership, ownership, administrative, development, recruitment, ambassadorial, or comparable position within another directly competing Second Life gaming system where that role creates a significant conflict with their responsibilities to Descendants of Darkness.
An Arch must also not develop, operate, or substantially contribute to a competing system while retaining the Arch position where doing so creates such a conflict.
This includes using the influence, relationships, membership, reputation, or community standing gained through Descendants of Darkness to:
* Recruit players into another competing system.
* Redirect their Bloodline or followers toward another system.
* Promote a competing system through the authority or influence of the Arch position.
* Build another system using relationships or communities developed through Descendants of Darkness.
* Deliberately undermine Descendants of Darkness for the benefit of another system.
* Place the interests of a competing system ahead of the community they have been entrusted to lead here.
These expectations are not intended to control an Arch's activities outside Descendants of Darkness.
They exist because an Arch may command considerable influence and potentially lead a substantial portion of the player community. That level of trust requires a reasonable standard of loyalty and separation from directly competing interests.
<div style="border-left:4px solid #8b1a1a; background:rgba(139,26,26,0.06); padding:0.7em 1em; margin:1em 0;">
Where a significant conflict develops, the player may be required to choose between retaining the Arch position and continuing the conflicting external role.
</div> | |||
== Responsibilities of an Arch ==
=== Leadership of the Bloodline ===
An Arch is responsible for providing direction and leadership to their Bloodline.
They should encourage activity, support their followers, develop other leaders within their lineage, and maintain a strong identity and purpose around the Bloodline they lead.
An Arch should not simply accumulate followers. They should actively build and maintain a community worthy of Bloodline recognition.
=== Strength, protection and defence ===
An Arch is not merely an administrative or ceremonial leader. They are the head of their Bloodline and may actively stand beside, protect, and defend those who follow them.
Where circumstances call for it, an Arch may use the normal combat and gameplay systems of Descendants of Darkness to defend their followers, their Bloodline, its interests, or its standing within the world.
They are not required to remain passive when their people are attacked, challenged, threatened, or drawn into legitimate conflict.
Archs remain players in their own right and may:
* Fight and retaliate. | |||
* Answer challenges. | |||
* Participate in rivalries.
* Support their followers in battle.
* Defend members of their Bloodline.
* Rally their lineage against an opponent.
* Take part fully in the competitive and combat aspects of Descendants of Darkness.
Holding the position of Arch does not require friendship, neutrality, or peace with every other player, Bloodline, Clan, or Dynasty.
An Arch may have rivals and enemies and may pursue legitimate conflicts within the rules of the game.
An Arch should be capable of showing strength when strength is required. Their position carries influence because they have built and lead a significant lineage, and they are entitled to use that leadership to rally and defend their Bloodline.
That authority must nevertheless remain within the rules of Descendants of Darkness.
<div style="border-left:4px solid #8b1a1a; background:rgba(139,26,26,0.06); padding:0.7em 1em; margin:1em 0;">
Legitimate combat, rivalry, retaliation, and defence of a Bloodline are separate from harassment, abuse of authority, targeted out-of-game behaviour, or attempts to drive players from the community.
</div> | |||
=== Leadership and judgement ===
Archs should demonstrate strong communication, decision-making, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
They are expected to lead by example and understand that their behaviour can influence not only their own followers but the wider community.
Strong leadership does not require avoiding conflict. It requires knowing how to control, direct, and respond to it responsibly.
=== Betterment of Descendants of Darkness ===
An Arch should strive for the continued betterment of Descendants of Darkness as a whole.
Their first responsibility may naturally be toward their own Bloodline and followers, but their influence should not be used in ways that deliberately damage the wider game or community.
Bloodline competition, rivalries, political differences, alliances, hostility, and individual ambitions are all legitimate parts of the world.
They should not, however, come at the expense of the long-term health of Descendants of Darkness itself.
Archs are encouraged to:
* Provide constructive feedback.
* Support community initiatives.
* Help identify problems and opportunities for improvement.
* Encourage participation in the wider game.
* Support new and existing players where appropriate.
* Work with other leaders when cooperation benefits the community.
* Help Descendants of Darkness continue to grow and evolve.
An Arch does not have to agree with every decision or every other leader. Constructive disagreement is entirely acceptable.
What matters is that their overall actions remain consistent with the continued success of the system and its community.
=== Diplomacy, rivalry and conflict ===
Archs should possess the judgement to recognise when a situation calls for diplomacy and when legitimate rivalry or conflict is appropriate.
They should be capable of resolving internal disputes constructively and preventing unnecessary conflicts from damaging their own Bloodline.
However, diplomacy does not require submission, neutrality, or friendship with opposing Bloodlines.
Competition, hostility, alliances, rivalries, retaliation, political manoeuvring, and conflict can all form legitimate parts of Descendants of Darkness.
An Arch may defend their position and their followers accordingly, provided their actions remain within the rules and spirit of the game.
| The expectation placed upon an Arch is therefore not that they avoid conflict, but that they understand the difference between leading a conflict and losing control of one. | ||
=== Fairness and responsibility ===
Archs should act responsibly when dealing with their followers, other Bloodlines, Clans, Dynasties, and the wider player community.
This does not mean an Arch must treat an enemy as a friend or avoid favouring their own Bloodline during legitimate gameplay. An Arch is naturally expected to support their own lineage.
However, personal rivalries or positions of authority should not be used to justify:
' | * Harassment. | ||
* Abuse of authority. | |||
* Deliberate out-of-game targeting.
* Manipulation of players through false information.
* Attempts to damage another player's real-world reputation.
* Behaviour designed primarily to force someone out of the wider community rather than defeat them within the game.
Competition should remain competition.
=== Collaboration and delegation ===
A successful Bloodline should not depend entirely upon one individual.
Archs should be capable of delegating responsibilities, developing trusted leaders beneath them, recognising the contributions of others, and building a leadership structure capable of supporting a large lineage.
An Arch should empower their Bloodline to grow rather than personally controlling every part of it.
=== Vision for the Bloodline ===
An Arch should have a clear direction for their Bloodline and be capable of developing its identity, culture, leadership structure, alliances, rivalries, and long-term goals.
Each recognised Bloodline should contribute something meaningful to the world of Descendants of Darkness.
Bloodlines should develop their own identity while remaining part of the larger game rather than attempting to isolate their membership entirely from the wider community.
=== Integrity and trust ===
Archs are expected to act with integrity in matters involving their position.
Using Arch status to deliberately mislead players, exploit community trust, manipulate followers for external purposes, abuse privileged information, or intentionally damage Descendants of Darkness may result in the position being reviewed.
An Arch has considerable freedom to lead their Bloodline as they see fit, but that freedom exists alongside the trust placed in the position.
=== Knowledge and experience ===
Archs should maintain a strong understanding of Descendants of Darkness, including its gameplay, hierarchy, organisational structure, community standards, and relevant lore.
They are not expected to know everything, but they should make a reasonable effort to remain informed about important changes affecting their Bloodline and be capable of helping their leadership and followers adapt to them.
=== Adaptability === | |||
Descendants of Darkness will continue to evolve.
Archs should be willing to adapt to changes in gameplay, systems, community structure, features, and leadership expectations.
They should be open to constructive feedback and willing to reconsider practices that no longer benefit their Bloodline or the wider community.
== Stepping down and succession ==
An Arch may step down from the position voluntarily at any time.
Where an Arch intends to retire or hand over their lineage, they are expected to give reasonable notice and, where possible, make arrangements for the continued leadership of their Bloodline.
A Bloodline is not immediately dissolved because its Arch departs, retires, or becomes inactive.
Where an Arch steps down, disappears, or is removed, the position and the future of the Bloodline may be reviewed. Depending on the circumstances, the outcome may include:
* Recognition of a successor drawn from the existing leadership of the Bloodline.
* A period of continuation under the Bloodline's existing leadership while a successor is identified.
* Loss of Bloodline recognition where no suitable leadership remains and the lineage can no longer be sustained.
Succession is not automatic or inherited. A prospective successor is considered against the same requirements, responsibilities, and suitability expected of any Arch, and the wider Arch capacity continues to apply.
An Arch who steps down in good standing is not prevented from being considered for the position again in future, subject to the requirements and capacity in force at that time.
== Continued recognition ==
Arch status is a position of continued responsibility rather than a permanent entitlement once obtained.
An Arch may be reviewed where there is a serious or sustained failure to meet the expectations of the role.
Reasons for review may include:
* Significant conflicts of interest.
* Using the Bloodline or Descendants of Darkness community to recruit for a competing system.
* Developing or operating a directly competing system while maintaining a conflicting Arch position.
* Serious abuse of leadership or community trust.
* Deliberate misuse of Arch influence.
* Conduct intended to cause substantial harm to Descendants of Darkness or its player community.
* Extended abandonment of the Bloodline without appropriate leadership arrangements.
* The Bloodline becoming substantially inactive or no longer maintaining the standards expected of a recognised major lineage.
* Sustained failure to meet the requirements necessary for recognition.
=== Follower numbers and review ===
Follower numbers naturally rise and fall. Bloodlines will lose members to inactivity, attrition, and the ordinary movement of players over time.
<div style="border-left:4px solid #8b1a1a; background:rgba(139,26,26,0.06); padding:0.7em 1em; margin:1em 0;">
Falling below 125 qualifying active followers does not result in the immediate loss of Arch status.
</div> | |||
Where the shortfall becomes sustained, and the Bloodline is no longer maintaining the size and activity expected of a recognised major lineage, the position may be reviewed.
Any such review should take account of the wider circumstances, including the overall activity of the game, the health and direction of the Bloodline, and the effort being made to rebuild it.
=== Scope of a review ===
A review does not mean that an Arch must avoid disagreements with staff, other leaders, or players.
Nor should legitimate combat, rivalries, retaliation, political conflict, criticism, or ordinary competition be treated as grounds for removal simply because an Arch is involved.
Any review should consider the circumstances as a whole and distinguish between legitimate gameplay and a genuine failure to uphold the responsibilities of the position.
== The role of an Arch == | |||
Becoming an Arch represents more than reaching a follower count.
It signifies that a player has built enough influence, leadership, and community around themselves to become the head of one of the major Bloodlines of Descendants of Darkness.
An Arch should be capable of building their lineage, protecting it, fighting for it when necessary, leading it through conflict, strengthening its identity, and ensuring that its existence contributes something meaningful to the world around it.
The position carries power because it also carries responsibility.
<div style="border:1px solid rgba(139,26,26,0.55); border-left:4px solid #8b1a1a; background:rgba(139,26,26,0.06); padding:1em 1.2em; margin:1.2em 0; font-size:1.05em; font-style:italic;">
A strong Arch should seek not only to leave behind a powerful Bloodline, but to leave Descendants of Darkness stronger because that Bloodline existed.

An Arch is the leader and progenitor of a Bloodline and holds one of the highest positions of leadership, influence, and trust within Descendants of Darkness.
Requirements
To be considered for recognition as an Arch, a player must meet and continue to uphold the requirements of the position.
- The prospective Arch must have a minimum of 125 qualifying active followers, as determined by the current game eligibility rules.
- They must have an established presence within Descendants of Darkness and demonstrate the ability to lead a large community.
- They must remain in good standing within the game and its wider community.
- They must demonstrate appropriate leadership, conduct, judgement, and community involvement for a position of this level.
- They must actively support the continued growth and betterment of Descendants of Darkness as a whole, not solely the interests of their own Bloodline.
- They must avoid positions or activities that create a significant conflict of interest with their responsibilities as an Arch.
- They must be capable of maintaining and developing a Bloodline as a meaningful, active, and recognisable part of the wider game.
Qualifying active followers
Whether a follower qualifies toward the total is determined by the system using the current eligibility rules of Descendants of Darkness.
Inactive, dead, or otherwise invalid accounts do not count toward the requirement, and the follower total shown by the system at any given time reflects those rules rather than the total number of players ever turned or claimed.
The eligibility rules may be updated as Descendants of Darkness develops. The requirement is always measured against the rules in force at the time it is assessed.
Reaching 125 qualifying active followers establishes eligibility for consideration. It does not automatically grant Arch status or the creation of a new Bloodline.
Recognition remains subject to the responsibilities of the role, the current Arch capacity, the suitability of the prospective Arch, and the needs and balance of the wider Descendants of Darkness community.
Arch capacity and recognition
- The current number of recognised Archs.
- The size and activity of the wider player base.
- The number and health of existing Bloodlines.
- Whether another major lineage would strengthen or unnecessarily fragment the existing community.
- The prospective Arch's leadership history and suitability for the position.
- Their ability to sustain a meaningful Bloodline rather than simply reach the numerical requirement.
- The long-term interests and balance of Descendants of Darkness.
Authority of an Arch
An Arch holds authority and influence within their own Bloodline but is not automatically a member of Descendants of Darkness staff or administration.
Arch status does not grant moderation powers, authority over unrelated players, or the ability to make decisions on behalf of Descendants of Darkness itself unless that authority has been separately granted.
An Arch leads a Bloodline. They do not govern Descendants of Darkness.
Within their Bloodline, however, the Arch is its recognised leader and may establish its leadership structure, direction, alliances, rivalries, internal expectations, and approach to gameplay within the rules of Descendants of Darkness.
Independence and leadership style
An Arch is trusted with substantial independence in how they organise and lead their Bloodline.
Different Archs may have very different leadership styles.
Some Bloodlines may be diplomatic and cooperative, while others may be highly competitive, aggressive, territorial, politically driven, or strongly focused on combat.
This diversity is permitted and encouraged provided the Bloodline operates within the rules of Descendants of Darkness.
The Arch position should not remove personality, rivalry, ambition, or strength from the player holding it.
Archs are expected to be leaders, not identical representatives following a single personality or style.
Loyalty and conflicts of interest
- Recruit players into another competing system.
- Redirect their Bloodline or followers toward another system.
- Promote a competing system through the authority or influence of the Arch position.
- Build another system using relationships or communities developed through Descendants of Darkness.
- Deliberately undermine Descendants of Darkness for the benefit of another system.
- Place the interests of a competing system ahead of the community they have been entrusted to lead here.
These expectations are not intended to control an Arch's activities outside Descendants of Darkness.
They exist because an Arch may command considerable influence and potentially lead a substantial portion of the player community. That level of trust requires a reasonable standard of loyalty and separation from directly competing interests.
Where a significant conflict develops, the player may be required to choose between retaining the Arch position and continuing the conflicting external role.
Responsibilities of an Arch
Leadership of the Bloodline
An Arch is responsible for providing direction and leadership to their Bloodline.
They should encourage activity, support their followers, develop other leaders within their lineage, and maintain a strong identity and purpose around the Bloodline they lead.
An Arch should not simply accumulate followers. They should actively build and maintain a community worthy of Bloodline recognition.
Strength, protection and defence
An Arch is not merely an administrative or ceremonial leader. They are the head of their Bloodline and may actively stand beside, protect, and defend those who follow them.
Where circumstances call for it, an Arch may use the normal combat and gameplay systems of Descendants of Darkness to defend their followers, their Bloodline, its interests, or its standing within the world.
They are not required to remain passive when their people are attacked, challenged, threatened, or drawn into legitimate conflict.
Archs remain players in their own right and may:
- Fight and retaliate.
- Answer challenges.
- Participate in rivalries.
- Support their followers in battle.
- Defend members of their Bloodline.
- Rally their lineage against an opponent.
- Take part fully in the competitive and combat aspects of Descendants of Darkness.
Legitimate combat, rivalry, retaliation, and defence of a Bloodline are separate from harassment, abuse of authority, targeted out-of-game behaviour, or attempts to drive players from the community.
Leadership and judgement
Archs should demonstrate strong communication, decision-making, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
They are expected to lead by example and understand that their behaviour can influence not only their own followers but the wider community.
Strong leadership does not require avoiding conflict. It requires knowing how to control, direct, and respond to it responsibly.
Betterment of Descendants of Darkness
An Arch should strive for the continued betterment of Descendants of Darkness as a whole.
Their first responsibility may naturally be toward their own Bloodline and followers, but their influence should not be used in ways that deliberately damage the wider game or community.
Bloodline competition, rivalries, political differences, alliances, hostility, and individual ambitions are all legitimate parts of the world.
They should not, however, come at the expense of the long-term health of Descendants of Darkness itself.
Archs are encouraged to:
- Provide constructive feedback.
- Support community initiatives.
- Help identify problems and opportunities for improvement.
- Encourage participation in the wider game.
- Support new and existing players where appropriate.
- Work with other leaders when cooperation benefits the community.
- Help Descendants of Darkness continue to grow and evolve.
An Arch does not have to agree with every decision or every other leader. Constructive disagreement is entirely acceptable.
What matters is that their overall actions remain consistent with the continued success of the system and its community.
Diplomacy, rivalry and conflict
Fairness and responsibility
Archs should act responsibly when dealing with their followers, other Bloodlines, Clans, Dynasties, and the wider player community.
This does not mean an Arch must treat an enemy as a friend or avoid favouring their own Bloodline during legitimate gameplay. An Arch is naturally expected to support their own lineage.
However, personal rivalries or positions of authority should not be used to justify:
- Harassment.
- Abuse of authority.
- Deliberate out-of-game targeting.
- Manipulation of players through false information.
- Attempts to damage another player's real-world reputation.
- Behaviour designed primarily to force someone out of the wider community rather than defeat them within the game.
Competition should remain competition.
Collaboration and delegation
A successful Bloodline should not depend entirely upon one individual.
Archs should be capable of delegating responsibilities, developing trusted leaders beneath them, recognising the contributions of others, and building a leadership structure capable of supporting a large lineage.
An Arch should empower their Bloodline to grow rather than personally controlling every part of it.
Vision for the Bloodline
An Arch should have a clear direction for their Bloodline and be capable of developing its identity, culture, leadership structure, alliances, rivalries, and long-term goals.
Each recognised Bloodline should contribute something meaningful to the world of Descendants of Darkness.
Bloodlines should develop their own identity while remaining part of the larger game rather than attempting to isolate their membership entirely from the wider community.
Integrity and trust
Archs are expected to act with integrity in matters involving their position.
Using Arch status to deliberately mislead players, exploit community trust, manipulate followers for external purposes, abuse privileged information, or intentionally damage Descendants of Darkness may result in the position being reviewed.
An Arch has considerable freedom to lead their Bloodline as they see fit, but that freedom exists alongside the trust placed in the position.
Knowledge and experience
Archs should maintain a strong understanding of Descendants of Darkness, including its gameplay, hierarchy, organisational structure, community standards, and relevant lore.
They are not expected to know everything, but they should make a reasonable effort to remain informed about important changes affecting their Bloodline and be capable of helping their leadership and followers adapt to them.
Adaptability
Descendants of Darkness will continue to evolve.
Archs should be willing to adapt to changes in gameplay, systems, community structure, features, and leadership expectations.
They should be open to constructive feedback and willing to reconsider practices that no longer benefit their Bloodline or the wider community.

A Bloodline is not immediately dissolved because its Arch departs, retires, or becomes inactive.
Where an Arch steps down, disappears, or is removed, the position and the future of the Bloodline may be reviewed. Depending on the circumstances, the outcome may include:
- Recognition of a successor drawn from the existing leadership of the Bloodline.
- A period of continuation under the Bloodline's existing leadership while a successor is identified.
- Loss of Bloodline recognition where no suitable leadership remains and the lineage can no longer be sustained.
Continued recognition
Arch status is a position of continued responsibility rather than a permanent entitlement once obtained.
An Arch may be reviewed where there is a serious or sustained failure to meet the expectations of the role.
Reasons for review may include:
- Significant conflicts of interest.
- Using the Bloodline or Descendants of Darkness community to recruit for a competing system.
- Developing or operating a directly competing system while maintaining a conflicting Arch position.
- Serious abuse of leadership or community trust.
- Deliberate misuse of Arch influence.
- Conduct intended to cause substantial harm to Descendants of Darkness or its player community.
- Extended abandonment of the Bloodline without appropriate leadership arrangements.
- The Bloodline becoming substantially inactive or no longer maintaining the standards expected of a recognised major lineage.
- Sustained failure to meet the requirements necessary for recognition.
Follower numbers and review
Follower numbers naturally rise and fall. Bloodlines will lose members to inactivity, attrition, and the ordinary movement of players over time.
Falling below 125 qualifying active followers does not result in the immediate loss of Arch status.
Scope of a review
A review does not mean that an Arch must avoid disagreements with staff, other leaders, or players.
Nor should legitimate combat, rivalries, retaliation, political conflict, criticism, or ordinary competition be treated as grounds for removal simply because an Arch is involved.
Any review should consider the circumstances as a whole and distinguish between legitimate gameplay and a genuine failure to uphold the responsibilities of the position.
The role of an Arch
Becoming an Arch represents more than reaching a follower count.
It signifies that a player has built enough influence, leadership, and community around themselves to become the head of one of the major Bloodlines of Descendants of Darkness.
An Arch should be capable of building their lineage, protecting it, fighting for it when necessary, leading it through conflict, strengthening its identity, and ensuring that its existence contributes something meaningful to the world around it.
The position carries power because it also carries responsibility.
A strong Arch should seek not only to leave behind a powerful Bloodline, but to leave Descendants of Darkness stronger because that Bloodline existed.
