Realm Domination is DoD's team territory mode in Second Life. Earn flags, claim regions, lay siege to rival teams, and defend the territory your team holds. You play through your updated game HUD. The website lets you join, follow attacks, find your team's regions, compare standings, and review your results.
Realm Domination is DoD's team territory game in Second Life. Claim regions for your team, attack rival territory, and defend what you hold.

This guide is for existing DoD players. Rules and website features checked on 8 October 2026.
Play through the Action Bar and Bag. Use the website to join, find battles, and check your team's territory and results.

The objective
Where to play
Capture a region by planting a flag and helping its team fill a claim to 100%. Defend a region by pushing back an enemy flag while your team keeps ownership.
Realm Domination follows DoD's gridwide play: any sim in Second Life, except System Land and safe zones. System Land is a sanctuary where you earn flags alongside Essence.

Eligible players influence the capture bar by being present in permitted parts of the same region. More eligible players on your side give you an advantage. Equal numbers hold the bar still. Combat helps you remove opponents from the count and protect your flag planter.
Get started
An owned region remains with its team until an opposing flag's claim reaches 100%. Draining the owner's control to zero does not, by itself, take the region.
# Wear your DoD HUD and sign in to the DoD website.
# Open Gameplay → Realm Domination and turn on Take part. Wait for the saved confirmation.
# Click the HUD's settings button and choose Action bar.
# Earn a flag on System Land, then travel to the region you want to capture.

Join Realm Domination
Flags arrive at 30 and 60 verified minutes on System Land: two daily, with six carried at most.

# Wear the updated DoD HUD that includes the Action Bar and Bag.
Stay alive and on your feet, outside safe zones. Standing, walking, and normal running count toward a battle. Flying, sitting, and crouching do not.
# Sign in to the DoD website. Use your HUD password or Enter with In-World Link. Your HUD password is separate from your Second Life account password.
# Open Gameplay → Realm Domination.
# In Your participation, turn on Take part.
# Wait for the saved confirmation, then check In-game status.
# Open the HUD's settings button and choose Action bar.

You can read the website page while opted out. Turning Take part on saves your choice; you still need to meet the in-world requirements below to influence a battle. The website's participation message does not mean you are currently online or being counted in a particular region.
You can help an existing attack or defense without carrying a flag.

Your choice remains saved between visits. To leave the mode, turn Take part off on the website. Closing the Action Bar, closing the website, or turning off the alert sound does not opt you out.
Lay Siege: weaken enemy territory
Your first capture
# In an enemy-held region, open your flag from the Bag or a shortcut.
# Choose Lay Siege. You need to carry a flag, but this does not spend it.
# Outnumber the defenders to lower their control to 50% or below.

# Earn a flag on qualifying system land. The current earning location is Uphill; see Flags for the requirements.
Unclaimed territory does not need a siege. If enemy control is already at zero, plant directly.
# Go to a region where Realm capture and combat are allowed.
# Stay alive and stand, walk, or run normally on a supporting surface.
# Open the Bag and click your flag, or click an assigned flag shortcut.
# If the region is Unclaimed, choose Use to plant. In an enemy Controlled region, choose Lay Siege, reduce the owner's bar to 50% or below, then choose Use.
# Keep the original planter alive and in the region. Help the flag's team fill its claim to 100%.
# Check your team's territory and your completed results on the website.

You do not need your own flag to help an existing attack or defense. A player carrying a flag must start a siege or plant the flag.
Use: plant and capture
Who is on your team?
# In an Unclaimed region, or enemy territory at 50% or below, open your flag.
# Choose Use. A successful plant spends one flag.
# Keep the player who planted it alive and in the region.
# Outnumber your opponents. In enemy territory, first drain the owner's control to zero, then fill your team's claim to 100%.

Your Realm team follows your current political allegiance automatically.
The region changes owner only when that claim reaches 100%. A captured region receives 15 minutes of protection from new Realm attacks.

Outlaw without a Dynasty || You alone

Dynasty is the general name for a House, Pack, Coven, or Order. Your biological ancestry does not choose your Realm team.

Changing allegiance changes the team you help. Earlier results remain with the team you helped at the time. A flag already planted stays with its original team. If its planter changes teams, forward progress stops until that original planter is back in the region on the flag's original team.

When you count in a battle
You must be opted in, able to participate, alive with health remaining, and wearing a working updated HUD. Stay in a permitted part of the region, on foot and supported by the ground, a floor, or a platform.
Your Realm team follows your political allegiance automatically. Check its name under Your team's regions on the website.

Standing, walking, and ordinary running count. The current ground-speed limit is 5.5 metres per second, which allows normal Second Life running. Flying, sitting, crouching, falling, being knocked into the air, or moving too fast stops your influence and contribution time. After landing or teleporting, allow a fresh HUD update before expecting to count again.
Dynasty means a House, Pack, Coven, or Order. Biological ancestry does not choose your team. See Help and FAQ for the allegiance groups.

A battle covers the whole region. Teammates can spread across its permitted parcels; there is no circle you must stand inside around a flag. You do not need to rez a flag object, so no-build land can still allow Realm play.
Find the help you need
Safe areas block planting and influence. A safe parcel does not necessarily make the rest of a region safe. A whole-region safe zone blocks Realm play throughout it. Follow the HUD's location message.

HUD Action Bar and Bag
Open and close the controls
The updated DoD HUD adds an Action Bar, a Bag, and a Realm display. These let you see your flags, choose siege and planting actions, and follow the region's capture bar while playing.

What changed
The HUD's settings button now opens a menu with Settings and Action bar. Choose Settings to reach your usual HUD options. Choose Action bar to show or hide the new controls.

The Action Bar has twelve shortcut slots, arranged in two rows of six. The Bag button sits at the left end, the movement handle at the right end, and the Realm display above the bar. The Bag opens above its button with twelve cells, arranged three across and four down, plus page arrows.

The number of cells or shortcuts is not your flag allowance. All your flags share one stack, and the current carrying limit is six.

Open and close the Action Bar
# Click the HUD's settings button.
# Click the HUD's settings button.
# Choose Action bar.
# Choose Action bar to show the Action Bar and Realm display.
# Choose Action bar again when you want to hide it.
# Click the Bag button at the bar's left end to open your Bag.

Closing the bar also hides the Bag and Realm display. The bar remembers its open or closed choice, its position, and its assigned shortcuts. The Bag starts closed when you return.
Click the Bag button again to close it. Choose Action bar again to hide all three controls. Choose Settings from the HUD's menu for the main HUD options.

Closing the bar does not leave Realm Domination. You can still count in a battle with the display hidden. Use Take part on the website to opt out.
Hiding the bar does not stop your participation. To leave Realm Domination, turn off Take part on the website.

Move the Action Bar
Move the Action Bar
# Press and hold the movement handle at the right end of the bar.
# Press and hold the movement handle at the right end.
# Drag the bar to a comfortable position.
# Drag the bar where you want it.
# Release the mouse button.
# Release the handle.

The Bag and Realm display move with it. The position is saved. If the handle is outside the visible screen area, move the main HUD into view using its usual movement control so you can reach the bar, then place the bar where you want it.

Open and browse the Bag
# Open the Action Bar.
# Click the Bag button at its left end.
# Click a flag stack to open its actions.
# Click the Bag button again to close the Bag.

The flag stack shows how many flags you carry. Page arrows report the selected page in chat, such as Next page: 1/1. If there is only one page, an arrow does not create another page or another flag stack.
The Bag and Realm display move with it. Your position, shortcuts, and open-or-closed bar choice are saved; the Bag starts closed when you return. If you cannot reach the handle, move the main HUD into view using its usual movement control first.

Use the flag dialog
Open your flags
Click a flag in the Bag to open a dialog headed Flag ×N, where N is your number of flags.
# Open the Bag.
# Click the flag stack to open Flag ×N, where N is your flag count.
# Choose the action you need.

Lay Siege and Use appear only when available at your current location. If you are sitting, flying, or off the ground, the dialog can say Stand on the ground first. After landing, allow the HUD to update and reopen the dialog if necessary. A dialog closes automatically after 30 seconds.
Actions appear only when you can use them. If you see Stand on the ground first, land or stand up, let the display refresh, and reopen the dialog. The dialog closes after 30 seconds.

Browsing the Bag, assigning a shortcut, and moving the bar do not spend flags.
See Capturing and Defending for when to choose Lay Siege or Use.

Assign and clear a shortcut
Assign or clear a shortcut
# Open the Bag and click your flag.
# Open the flag stack and choose Assign.
# Choose Assign.
# Click the Action Bar slot you want to use.
# Click the Action Bar slot where you want the shortcut.
# Click that slot whenever you want to open your flag actions.
# Later, click that slot to open the flag dialog directly.

From an assigned slot, the dialog can offer Lay Siege, Use, Clear, and Close. Choose Clear to remove that shortcut. Your flags remain in the Bag. Close from a shortcut closes only the dialog.
From a shortcut's dialog, choose Clear to remove the shortcut. This keeps your flags. Close closes that dialog only. If you spend your last flag, an assigned shortcut can become useful again when you earn more.

A shortcut points to your existing flag stack. Assigning several shortcuts does not create more flags. Shortcuts are saved and can remain assigned when your flag balance reaches zero, ready for when you earn more.
The bar has 12 slots, in two rows of six. The Bag has 12 cells, three across and four down, with page arrows. All flags share one stack; cells and slots do not increase your carrying limit. Page arrows do not create more flags or pages.

If you click a shortcut just after arriving in a region, the dialog may wait until the region information has loaded.

Controlled || The bar shows the owner's control.

Contested || The bar shows the planted flag team's claim. Held by names any existing owner until the claim reaches 100%.
Protected || The owner has temporary Realm capture protection. Ordinary combat rules still apply.
Protected || A completed capture or defense has temporary Realm protection.

For example, Under attack · Defending team · 40% · Flag: Attacking team shows the defender's remaining control. Later, Contested · Attacking team · 12% · Held by Defending team shows the attacker's growing claim. The defending team still owns the region at that point.
Sanctuary · your influence sleeps means you are on System Land or in a safe zone. Your influence fades or Too swift means you are not currently helping move the bar. Stand or move normally on the ground.

Click the Realm display to print fuller status in chat, including protection time when applicable, whether a flag is ready to plant, and how many flags you carry.
After arrival, Loading region… can appear briefly. For Reconnecting to Realm… or Realm display unavailable, wait for the display to reconnect before planting. Other availability messages tell you whether you need to join or cannot currently take part.

Influence and availability messages
Follow the display during play. Chat notices such as Siege begun, Flag planted, and Region captured describe events that have already happened. See Help and FAQ if progress stalls.

An orange line can explain why you are not influencing the bar.
When an enemy plants in your team's territory, opted-in teammates with connected HUDs receive an alert naming the planter and linking to the region's map, even from another sim. A siege without a flag does not send this alert.

Message !! What to do
Your influence fades · touch the ground || Return to a supporting surface and stay on foot.
Your influence returns… || Give the HUD a few seconds to confirm that you are ready again.
Too swift · your influence scatters || Return to ordinary walking or running speed.
Sanctuary · your influence sleeps || You are in a safe area. Move to a permitted area if you want to participate.

Other messages can include Join Realm to play, Cannot capture right now, Capture unavailable here, Realm paused, Realm unavailable, or Realm access suspended. Read these alongside the region state: a Controlled or Unclaimed label does not override a restriction on taking part.

An unclaimed safe location may show Claimed by The Darkness. This is a sanctuary message, not an opposing team you can defeat.

Loading region… is normal briefly after arrival. Reconnecting to Realm… means you should wait for an updated display before trying to plant. Realm display unavailable means the HUD cannot currently show usable Realm information; check again after it reconnects.

Chat notices and attack alerts
Local Realm notices tell you about events such as Siege begun, Flag planted, Flag ready to plant, Flag broken, Region captured, and Protection ended. Read the current display as well as the chat history; an earlier notice may describe a state that has since changed.

When an enemy plants a flag in territory your team owns, opted-in teammates with reachable working HUDs receive an attack alert, including teammates elsewhere. It names the planter and includes a clickable region map link. Laying siege without planting does not send this team alert.

The alert can also play a sound that only you hear. Change your own Attack alert sound setting under My campaign → Settings on the website. Turning it off keeps the chat alert. Your HUD's usual alert-sounds option does not control this Realm sound, and your choice does not change anyone else's sound.

Flags
Flags
A flag starts a claim for your Realm team. Carry one to begin a siege, or spend one to plant in an eligible region. You can help an existing battle without carrying a flag yourself.
Carry a flag to start Lay Siege, or spend one with Use to plant a capture flag. You do not need your own flag to help an attack or defense already underway.

Earn your first flags
Earn flags on System Land
# Turn on Take part on the Realm Domination website page.
# Turn on Take part on the Realm Domination website page.
# Wear your working updated DoD HUD and remain alive.
# Wear your DoD HUD, stay alive, and visit System Land.
# Visit qualifying system land. The current flag-earning location is Uphill, available through the DoD Second Life location.
# Meet its reward requirements, including Discord verification when requested.
# Make sure your DoD character meets the system-land reward requirements, including a verified Discord link. If your HUD requests Discord verification, follow its instructions; the DoD Discord link is also available.
# Spend time there and check your Bag for flags. The website also shows Flags carried.
# Spend enough verified time there to reach the daily milestones.
# Check the flag stack in your Bag or Flags carried on the website.

The earning checks happen roughly every five minutes. Your first successful check establishes that you are there; counted time follows subsequent successful checks. A flag therefore may not arrive at the exact stopwatch minute you expect.

Offline time and gaps in confirmed presence do not count. A Discord requirement for system-land rewards does not create a separate Discord requirement for every Realm battle.

Daily earning and carrying limits
Flags are earned alongside Essence. The HUD confirms your time through checks roughly every five minutes, so a reward may arrive after the exact minute you expect. Offline time and gaps in confirmed presence do not count.

Daily reset || Midnight Second Life Time (SLT)

The second flag is earned at 60 minutes total: 30 more counted minutes after the first milestone. It does not require another full hour.
The second milestone is 60 minutes total, not another hour after the first flag. Essence multipliers and your daily Essence cap do not change flag earning.

SLT follows Second Life's Pacific time, including its daylight-saving changes. Use SLT midnight for the daily allowance rather than your own local midnight.

Essence multipliers do not speed up flag earning or increase the two-flag daily allowance. Reaching your daily Essence earning cap does not prevent collection of a flag you have earned through valid time.

When your Bag is full
At six flags, your existing flags remain yours. You cannot collect more until there is space.
Lay Siege
# Use a flag successfully so your balance drops below six.
# Travel to enemy territory outside System Land and safe zones.
# Return to qualifying system land.
# Open your flag from the Bag or an assigned shortcut.
# Complete another successful presence check on the same SLT day.
# Choose Lay Siege and help lower the owner's control.

You can then collect any remaining flag entitlement you earned that day, within the two-flag daily allowance. Earned but uncollected entitlement expires at the next SLT day. Flags already in your Bag remain.
You must carry a flag, but Lay Siege spends none.

Use a flag
Use: plant a flag
# Go to the region you want to fight for.
# Find Unclaimed territory or enemy territory at 50% or below.
# Stay alive, grounded, and in a permitted area.
# Open your flag and choose Use.
# Click your flag in the Bag or an assigned shortcut.
# Keep the planter alive and in the region while your team completes the capture.
# Choose the available action.

Action !! Flag cost
Lay Siege || None; you must carry at least one flag
Use with a successful plant || One flag
A refused plant || None
Open the Bag or flag dialog || None
Assign, Clear, or move a shortcut/bar || None

You can plant in an Unclaimed region or an enemy-controlled region whose bar is 50% or below. There can be only one planted flag in a region. Your own team's holdings, safe areas, and capture protection block planting.
A successful plant spends one flag. A refused plant spends none. You cannot plant in your own territory, on System Land, in safe zones, during capture protection, or while another flag is planted there.

If players try to plant together, only one successful plant can take the available place. A refused attempt does not spend a flag.
See Capturing and Defending for the full capture steps.

A flag you successfully spend is not refunded if the capture fails, the planter dies, or the flag breaks. The Bag holds unused flags; a planted flag belongs to its current attempt.
Keep unused flags
What happens to unused flags?
Unused flags stay in your Bag through death, relogging, allegiance changes, and opting out. You cannot give them to another player. A spent flag is not refunded if its capture fails.

Unused flags survive death, relogging, changes of allegiance, and opting out. They cannot be transferred to another player.
At six flags, make space by successfully planting one. Return to System Land and complete another check that same SLT day to collect any remaining flags you earned that day. Flags not collected expire at the daily reset; flags already in your Bag remain.

Turning Take part off stops flag earning. Turning it back on does not give you a new daily allowance: flags already earned that day still count toward the limit. Your counted earning minutes for that day restart when you rejoin.
Turning off Take part stops earning. Rejoining keeps that day's earned flags counted toward the two-flag limit, but restarts your counted earning minutes. A participation suspension keeps unused flags while freezing earning and use.

If participation is suspended, flag earning and use are frozen. Your existing unused flags are kept.
For missing rewards, see Help and FAQ. For shortcuts and Bag controls, see Action Bar and Bag.

Flags, slots, and cells
All your flags appear as one stack with a number. Twelve Bag cells or twelve Action Bar slots do not let you carry twelve flags.

Assign creates a shortcut to that stack. Clear removes a shortcut without deleting flags. An assigned shortcut can remain empty after you spend the last flag and become useful again when you earn another.

If a flag does not appear
# Check that Take part is on and your participation is available.
# Confirm you are alive, wearing a working updated HUD, and on qualifying system land.
# Complete any Discord verification requested for system-land rewards.
# Allow the next presence check to happen.
# Check whether you have already earned two flags that SLT day or are carrying six.
# If the website is delayed, check the Bag too and wait for its current count.

Keep earning time and capture time separate. Fighting in a random combat region does not replace the required time on qualifying system land.

Continue with HUD Action Bar and Bag or Capturing and Defending.

Capturing and Defending
Capturing and Defending
Realm battles use one region-wide bar. During the control phase it measures the owner's control. During the claim phase it measures the planted flag team's claim. Read the named team and phase together with the percentage.
Win a region by filling your planted flag's claim to 100%. In enemy territory, you first weaken the owner, then build your claim. Reaching zero on the owner's bar alone does not capture it.

A region changes owner only when an opposing flag's claim reaches 100%. Zero control alone never removes the current owner.
Before you fight
Prepare for a battle
# Turn on Take part and wear your DoD HUD.
# Meet in the same sim, outside System Land and safe zones.
# Stay alive and on foot. Stand, walk, or run normally on the ground, a floor, or a platform.
# Choose your flag planter and make sure they carry a flag.

# Opt in on the website and wear an updated, working HUD.
The battle covers the whole region. Teammates can spread across parcels outside safe areas; there is no flag circle to stand in. No flag object needs to be rezzed, so a no-build parcel does not block play.
# Choose who will plant and make sure that player has a flag.
# Travel to the same region and use areas where combat and Realm participation are allowed.
# Remain alive and grounded on foot. A floor or raised platform counts as a supporting surface.
# Check the HUD's influence message before relying on your headcount.

You can spread across permitted parcels in the region; no fixed flag radius is required. Flying, sitting, crouching, falling, knockback, and moving too fast remove a player's own influence until they are ready again. A player counts once, even with more than one HUD.
More players who can take part give their side an advantage. Equal numbers hold the bar still. Fighting opponents helps remove them from the count.

Capture Unclaimed territory
Capture Unclaimed territory
# Find a permitted region showing Unclaimed.
# Open your flag and choose Use. A successful plant spends one flag.
# Open a flag from your Bag or shortcut.
# Keep the planter alive and in the region.
# Choose Use. One flag is spent when planting succeeds.
# Outnumber players outside your flag's team and fill your claim to 100%.
# Keep the original planter alive and in the region.
# Bring more eligible flag-team players than eligible opponents into the region.
# Fill the claim from zero to 100%.

Your team then owns the region and receives 15 minutes of capture protection. No existing owner loses territory when an Unclaimed region is captured.
Your team then owns the region and receives 15 minutes of capture protection.

Equal eligible numbers hold the claim still. More opponents push it down. Only the planted flag's team can win that claim.
Capture enemy territory
Take enemy territory
Lay Siege: weaken the owner
# Lay Siege. In an enemy Controlled region, open a flag and choose Lay Siege. You need a flag but spend none. Simply passing through a quiet owned region does not begin a siege.
# Open your flag and choose Lay Siege. Carrying a flag is required, but no flag is spent.
# Drain control. Eligible owner-team players defend. Eligible players from all other teams apply pressure together. An attacking majority lowers the owner's bar.
# Outnumber the defenders to lower the owner's control.
# Plant at 50% or below. When the flag is ready, choose Use. A successful plant spends one flag and starts the flagged attack. Only one flag can be planted in a region.
# At 50% or below, you can plant.
# Reach zero control. Keep weakening the owner. When its bar reaches zero, the display changes to Contested and begins showing your flag team's claim.
# Win the claim. Your flag team must outnumber everyone else and fill that claim to 100%. Ownership changes only at this final step.

The old owner remains the holder throughout the growing enemy claim. Held by on the HUD identifies that owner.
During this stage, everyone outside the owner's team helps weaken it. Simply visiting a quiet owned region does not start a siege.

If an enemy region is already at zero control with no flag planted, choose Use to begin the claim directly. Lay Siege is not offered there because nothing remains to drain.
Use: plant your flag
If the owner's bar reaches zero without any planted flag, the owner keeps the region. Attackers must still plant and win a claim. Owners can return and refill their control.
# Open your flag and choose Use. A successful plant spends one flag.
# Protect the planter and continue lowering the owner's control to zero.
# When the display becomes Contested, outnumber everyone outside your flag's team and fill your claim to 100%.

Fighting alongside another attacking team
Only the planted flag's team can win the claim. Other attacking teams oppose it once the claim starts, so agree who will plant before the assault.

During the control phase, different non-owner teams help drain the owner together. Once a flag's claim begins, everyone outside that flag's team opposes its claim, including the previous owner and other attacking teams.
If enemy control is already at zero with no flag planted, choose Use directly. The old owner keeps the region until your claim reaches 100%; Held by identifies that owner.

Agree which team will plant before the assault. Helping a different team's siege does not put you on that team's flag or award your team its capture.
Protect your planter
How the bar moves
The original planter must stay alive and in the region. Teammates cannot take over that role.

An active battle normally updates about every two seconds. Each extra eligible player on one side gives one point of advantage, up to four points per update.
If the planter dies, the flag breaks at the next battle update. Leaving the region, entering a safe zone, opting out, or losing connection stops forward progress until they return and can take part again.

Flying or sitting stops the planter's own influence, but grounded teammates can still advance while that planter remains alive and confirmed in the region. See Help and FAQ for absence timers and other exceptions.
Situation !! Bar movement per update
Six owners defending against five attackers || Owner gains 1 point
Three defenders against three attackers || Owner's bar stays still
No defenders against five attackers || Owner loses 4 points
Four flag teammates against one opponent during a claim || Flag claim gains 3 points

With no interruptions, one unopposed player can fill a full claim in about 200 seconds. A maximum advantage can fill it in about 50 seconds. Taking a fully controlled enemy region requires draining one bar and filling another, so those ideal times become about 400 seconds solo or 100 seconds at maximum advantage, plus planting and update delays.
Defend your territory
These are examples, not a countdown promise. Deaths, changing numbers, movement, safe areas, ties, and delayed HUD updates change the pace.
# Respond to the attack alert or find the battle on the website.
# Bring members of the owning team and outnumber the attackers.
# Refill your control to 100%, defeat the flag planter, or push back an enemy claim until its flag breaks.
# After the flag breaks, restore any remaining control damage to 100%.

Protect the original planter
A full recovery from a flagged attack grants 15 minutes of protection. Recovering just above 50% does not repel a planted flag. You cannot attack a separate flag object.

The flag needs its original planter alive and in the region for forward progress. Teammates can strengthen or hold the attempt, but cannot replace that player.
Your team still owns the region during an enemy claim. If that flag breaks, return defenders to rebuild your control from zero.

After a battle
What happens !! Effect on the planted flag
The planter dies, including from hunger || The flag breaks at the next capture update, even with teammates present.
The planter flies, sits, crouches, falls, or moves too fast while still confirmed in the region || The planter's own influence stops. Eligible grounded teammates can keep moving the bar and earn their time. This alone does not break the flag.
The planter leaves, detaches the HUD, enters a safe area, opts out, changes away from the flag's team, or loses a working connection || Forward progress stops. Eligible flag teammates can oppose enemies and hold existing progress, but cannot take over the planter's role.
No eligible flag teammate remains and the planter is no longer confirmed in the region || The flag breaks after 30 continuously observed seconds.
A Contested claim is at zero and the flag team remains outnumbered || The flag breaks after 20 continuously observed seconds.
The owner refills its control to 100% while the flag is planted || The flag is repelled and the owner receives protection.

Once a flag is planted against an owner, an absent planter also stops attackers from lowering the owner's control. Defenders can still refill it. A planter who is only airborne or seated in the region does not stop grounded teammates from continuing the attack.
Protection blocks new Realm sieges and plants; ordinary combat still follows the area's rules. Safe zones also block Realm play, but are separate from timed protection.

During a claim, opponents can push the claim down while the planter is away. A tie at zero does not trigger the outnumbered timer. Returning eligible teammates can stop the absence countdown; forward progress resumes when the original planter is back and ready, provided the flag survives.
Ownership stays when protection expires or your team leaves. Damaged control does not repair itself in quiet territory; return to restore it.

Defend your region
Review results under My campaign → History. The Website Guide explains where to find them. The Help and FAQ explains contribution credit and detailed battle rules.

# Respond to the team alert or check the website's Attack feed and Your team's regions.
Website Guide
# Travel to the region and bring eligible members of the owning team.
# Stay grounded in permitted areas and outnumber the attackers.
# Refill your control to 100% while the enemy flag is planted, or break the flag through combat and opposition.
# After a flag breaks, refill any remaining damage to 100% to gain protection from that flagged attack.

Killing the original planter breaks the flag at the next capture update. You cannot directly attack a separate flag object. Recovering only above 50% does not repel a planted flag; full recovery to 100% does.
Use the website to join Realm Domination, find battles, check territory, and review results. Siege and capture actions happen in Second Life through the Action Bar and Bag.

If the enemy is already filling a claim, your team still owns the region. Break that flag and ownership stays with you, with your control at zero. Return eligible defenders to refill it.
Join or leave Realm Domination
Surviving a flagged attack records a team defense. Breaking a flag in previously Unclaimed territory does not award a defense to a team that never owned it. Refilling after a siege that never planted a flag does not count as a successful flag defense and does not grant this capture protection.
# Sign in to the DoD website using your HUD password or Enter with In-World Link. Your HUD password is separate from your Second Life account password.
# Open Gameplay → Realm Domination.
# In Your participation, turn Take part on or off.
# Wait for the saved confirmation, then check In-game status.

Protection, quiet territory, and safe areas
Your choice stays saved between visits. Closing the page or hiding the Action Bar does not turn it off. Being opted in does not mean you are currently online or helping a battle; follow your in-world display.

Protection lasts 15 minutes after a completed capture or a full recovery from a flagged attack. It blocks a new siege or flag plant while active. It does not grant immunity from ordinary combat where combat is normally allowed.
Flags carried shows your unused flag balance. View my results opens My campaign.

Ownership remains when protection ends or the owners leave. A quiet region's damaged bar does not automatically heal or decay. An eligible owner returning to a damaged region can begin restoring it.
On a phone, the participation panel is below the selected tab's content. Scroll down to reach it. Scroll the tab strip sideways or use Scroll page tabs to find all five tabs.

A siege without a flag can settle when there are no enemies left and either control is full or no owner is present to refill it. It normally settles after 30 seconds; at zero with nobody there to refill, it can settle immediately. The remaining control value is kept.
Find a battle: Attack feed
Safe parcels and height-restricted safe areas exclude the players inside them. A whole-region safe zone blocks play everywhere in that region. If an ongoing flagged attack is paused by a whole-region safe zone, the website can keep it visible with its frozen bar and Safe zone — attack paused. A safe zone is not a timed protection countdown.
# Open Attack feed.
# Search for a region, or filter by All statuses, Control phase, or Capture phase.
# Read the region, defending team, attacking team, and bar.
# Choose Teleport to open its Second Life map, then travel there in Second Life.

Personal contribution and team records
The shared feed shows planted flag attacks against existing owners. It does not list sieges without flags or claims on Unclaimed land. A listed attack stays until its flag completes, breaks, or is repelled.

Safe zone — attack paused means a whole-region safe zone has frozen that attack.
Result !! How you earn it
Capture helped || Accumulate at least 30 seconds of eligible help for the winning flag team during that planted attempt.
Successful flags || Your planted flag completes a capture. This is separate from capture-help credit.
Defense helped || Normally accumulate at least 30 seconds helping the owner during a flagged attempt that it survives.
Shorter defense qualification || If the flag breaks because its planter died or its team left, a defender still counted when it breaks can qualify with 20 seconds of help.
Time attacking / Time defending || Your counted time participating in active territory fights.

Helping drain an owner before a flag is planted can record attacking time, but does not count toward that later flag's 30-second capture-help requirement. Arriving at the last moment does not automatically earn an assist.
Find your territory: Your team's regions
Tied active fights can still earn contribution time. Quiet ownership, protection, and standing in an empty Unclaimed region do not earn fighting time. While the flag's planter is absent, merely holding existing progress gives the flag team no new attacking or capture-help time. Grounded teammates can still earn time when the planter is only airborne or seated in the region.
# Open Your team's regions.
# Choose Current regions for holdings and capture attempts, or Lost regions for previous losses.
# Search for a region and use the available status or period filters.
# Read the card and choose Teleport if you want to travel there.

Death, departure, or opting out after valid help does not erase that earlier contribution. A player whose participation is suspended when an attempt finishes receives no personal capture or defense success credit for it.
Current regions includes your team's holdings, holdings under attack, and planted capture attempts—including Unclaimed captures absent from Attack feed. Protection ends in shows timed protection. Safe zone means the whole region blocks Realm play.

A planter can earn both Capture helped and a successful flag result. They are separate measures. Teams record successful captures, successful defenses, regions held now, and regions lost. A region is lost when an opposing claim completes, not when its owner's control reaches zero.
The summary shows Held, Under attack, and Capturing, plus historical Captures, Defences, and Regions lost. Current territory is counted now; Today, This week, and All time apply to historical totals. Searching the list does not change the team summary.

Review completed attempts under My campaign → History. See the Website Guide for filters and attempt details, or Help and FAQ for problems during a fight.
Quiet holdings are visible to your team's members. Rival teams can see attacks in the shared feed and aggregate rankings, but those rankings do not reveal your quiet territory locations.

Website Guide
Compare results: rankings
The Realm Domination website page supports your in-world play. It saves your participation choice and attack-alert sound preference, shows current attacks and your team's territory, and records standings and completed attempts. Sieging, planting, and defending are played through your game HUD in Second Life.
# Open Team rankings or Player rankings.
# Choose a measure and, where available, a time period.
# Search by name, or choose Find my team or Find me.

Open the page
Team measures include Captures, Defenses, Regions held, Time attacking, and Time defending. Player measures include Captures helped, Successful flags, Defenses helped, and attacking or defending time.

# Sign in to the DoD website with your HUD password or Enter with In-World Link.
Each measure has its own ranking. Regions held counts present holdings and has no historical period. Other measures offer Today, This week, This month, and All time. Names link to profiles where available.
# Open Gameplay → Realm Domination, or use the Realm Domination page.
# Choose one of its five tabs.

Review your results: My campaign
Tab !! What you use it for
Attack feed || Follow planted flag attacks against existing owners.
Your team's regions || Find your team's current territory and captures, and review its losses.

Player rankings || Compare individual contributions and flag successes.
My campaign || Set your attack-alert sound and review your own history.

Your participation stays beside the selected tab on desktop. On a phone or narrow screen, it appears below the main content. Scroll down to reach it.
# Open My campaign and scroll to History.
# Choose a time period and All, Captures, Defenses, or Broken flags under Results.
# Search for a region if needed.
# Choose View attempt on a result card.

Your participation
The attempt shows Recorded events, Contributors, and their recorded time and help results. Close it with Close attempt, its close button, or Escape.

# Find Your participation.
Your history contains attempts you planted or joined. Your participation panel and personal history are visible only to you.
# Turn Take part on to join, or off to stop taking part.
# Wait for the saved confirmation and check Opted in or Opted out.
# Read In-game status to see whether your character can currently take part.

Your saved choice and your current availability are different. You can be opted in while the mode is unavailable or your character cannot currently participate. A suspension keeps your saved choice but blocks participation while it applies.
Set the attack sound
# Open My campaign → Settings.
Message !! Meaning
# Turn Attack alert sound on or off.
# Wait for the saved confirmation.
You are taking part in Realm Domination. || Your choice is on and your character can take part. This is not a check that you are online, wearing the HUD, or influencing a particular battle.
You have not opted in. Turn the switch on to save your choice. || Your saved choice is off.
Your choice is saved. Realm Domination is unavailable right now. || Your choice is on, but the mode is not currently available.
Your choice is saved, but your character can't take part right now. || Your choice is on, but your character is currently unable to participate.
A participation-suspension message || Participation is blocked; your saved choice is retained.

Flags carried shows your recorded unused flag balance. Unavailable means the number could not be shown; it does not mean zero.
This saves your sound choice for enemy flags planted in your team's territory. The chat alert remains. It does not change Take part, teammates' sounds, or your other HUD sound settings.

View my results opens My campaign. Expand How to play for the page's short reminder to use the Realm controls in your HUD.
Search and updates
Only you can see your participation panel. Closing the website or hiding the Action Bar does not change its saved switch.
Submit a search with Search or Enter. To clear it, empty the field and submit again. Use Previous, Next, and Per page to browse longer lists.

Attack feed
Times use Second Life Time (SLT). Active region lists normally refresh about every 15 seconds. Rankings and completed results can take roughly 15 minutes to catch up. Follow your Realm display during a fight.

The shared feed shows a region when a flag has been planted against an existing holder. It names the region, defending team, attacking team, and current bar out of 100. Teleport opens its Second Life map page in another browser tab.
For a failed load, use Try again. For an uncertain saved choice, use Retry or Check current setting when offered. Unavailable or a dash does not mean zero.

An attack remains listed until that flag captures, is repelled, or breaks. At zero control the same teams stay visible. During the next phase, Capture progress shows the flag team's growing claim. The defending team still owns the region until the claim reaches 100%.
See Help and FAQ for missing results and unusual history entries.

# Open Attack feed.
Help and FAQ
# Search for a region name if needed.
# Choose All statuses, Control phase, or Capture phase.
# Read both team names and the bar's phase before deciding where to help.
# Choose Teleport to open the region's map, then use Second Life to travel there.

A siege before a flag is planted does not appear in this feed. A flag claiming previously Unclaimed territory does not appear either. An empty feed therefore does not mean nobody is playing Realm.

If a whole-region safe zone freezes an attack, its card can remain visible as Safe zone — attack paused, with both teams and the frozen bar.

Your team's regions
Start with the message on your Realm display. Find your question below for troubleshooting or detailed rules.

This tab uses your current Realm team. Its quiet holdings are visible to its own members, rather than listed in a directory for rival teams.

Read the team summary
I cannot find the Action Bar or Bag
The summary shows your team name and two sets of totals.
# Wear your DoD HUD, click its settings button, and choose Action bar.
# Click the Bag button at the Action Bar's left end.
# If the movement handle is off screen, move the main HUD into view first, then drag the bar using its right-hand handle.

Wait for reconnection if the controls are unresponsive. If they remain unavailable, contact game support with the visible message and what you were trying to do.
Group !! Figures
Current territory || Held, Under attack, Capturing
Selected historical period || Captures, Defences, Regions lost

Choose Today, This week, or All time for the historical totals. Current territory describes the position now regardless of that period. The summary covers the whole team; searching the list does not reduce it to only the cards you found.
Why is Lay Siege or Use missing?
A region remains held by its owner even while its control is zero or an enemy claim is growing. A team's Unclaimed capture in progress can also appear in this tab, but does not count as held until won.
# Check Take part, your in-game availability, and your flag balance.
# Stand outside System Land and safe zones, then let the display refresh.
# Check the region's owner, control bar, protection, and whether a flag is already planted.

Recorded results updated tells you when the historical totals were last confirmed. A dash means a figure is unavailable, not an assumed zero.
Lay Siege requires enemy territory with control left to drain and a carried flag. Use requires Unclaimed land or enemy control at 50% or below. You cannot plant in your own territory or during protection. Close and reopen the dialog after landing or reconnecting.

Current regions
Why is the bar not moving?
# Select Current regions.
Stay alive, opted in, and on foot in the battle's region, outside safe areas. Flying, sitting, crouching, falling, knockback, or excessive speed stops your own influence. Normal Second Life running fits the 5.5 metres-per-second ground-speed limit.
# Search by region name, or choose a Status filter.
# Use All statuses, Held, Capture phase, Protected, or Under attack.
# Read the card's state, controlling or defending team, flag team where present, and bar.
# Choose Teleport to open its Second Life map page.

The list includes your team's holdings, its holdings under attack, and regions carrying your team's capture flag. This includes claims on Unclaimed land that are absent from the shared Attack feed. A failed claim leaves the list once its flag is gone unless your team owns the region.
Equal numbers hold the bar still. Each player counts once, even with multiple HUDs. After landing or teleporting, allow a fresh update. If a flag is planted, also check its original planter.

Why have I not earned a flag?
Card label !! Meaning
Controlled || The region has an owner and is not shown as a flagged attack or protected state.
Under attack || An enemy flag is attacking the holder, including during the growing enemy claim.
Capturing || A flag is claiming territory that has no existing owner.
Protected || The region has timed Realm capture protection.
Safe zone || The whole region is safe; there is no protection countdown.
Safe zone — attack paused || A whole-region safe zone is keeping an existing attack paused.

For timed protection, Protection ends in shows the time remaining. Protection ending… can appear briefly while the card awaits the next confirmed state. Protection time unavailable means the countdown could not be shown.
# Check Take part, stay alive with your HUD worn, and visit System Land.
# Complete any Discord verification requested for its rewards; the DoD Discord link is available.
# Allow the roughly five-minute checks to count your presence. The first successful check establishes your arrival; time follows later checks.
# Check whether you have earned two today or already carry six.

A whole-region safe zone uses Safe zone instead of a timed countdown. An owned safe region remains in its team's holdings and held count.
The milestones are 30 and 60 verified minutes total that SLT day. Offline time does not count. Discord verification for System Land rewards is not a separate requirement for every Realm battle. See Flags for full-Bag and rejoining rules.

Lost regions
What do sanctuary messages mean?
# Select Lost regions.
Sanctuary · your influence sleeps means your location blocks Realm play. Claimed by The Darkness describes an unclaimed safe location, not a rival team you can defeat.
# Choose Today, This week, or All time.
# Search by region name if needed.
# Read the result, its time, and the opposing team.

Current-rule losses show Region lost and Captured by. They record an opposing flag's completed 100% claim.
System Land is a sanctuary. Other safe zones may cover a parcel, a height range, or a whole region. A safe parcel does not make the whole sim safe. A whole-region safe zone can pause an existing attack, shown as Safe zone — attack paused on the website.

Some older entries show Control reached zero, Flag team, and Zero control under the earlier rule; capture not confirmed. These are earlier zero-control records, not proof of a completed enemy capture. The historical zero bar shown on those cards is not the region's live bar.
Why is a battle or result missing from the website?
Losses remain in history if your team later recovers the region. The same region can appear more than once after separate losses. Teleport opens the region's current map, not a replay of the historical battle.
Attack feed shows planted attacks against existing owners. It excludes unflagged sieges and Unclaimed captures; find your team's capture attempts under Your team's regions.

Team rankings
Active lists refresh about every 15 seconds; completed results can take roughly 15 minutes. Team changes may also take a short time. Follow your Realm display during play. Use the offered retry controls for errors; do not repeatedly change Take part to refresh results.

# Open Team rankings.
Lost regions is a history, so recovered regions remain listed and separate losses can appear more than once. Region lost means a completed enemy capture. Control reached zero entries explicitly say capture is not confirmed; their recorded bar is not the live region's bar.
# Choose the measure you want to compare.
# For a historical measure, choose Today, This week, This month, or All time.
# Search for a team, or choose Find my team to locate your own standing.

A few other questions
Measure !! What it compares
Captures || Successful team captures.
Defenses || Successful defenses against planted flags.
Regions held || How many regions each team owns now.
Time attacking || Recorded eligible attacking time.
Time defending || Recorded eligible defending time.

Regions held is a current count, so it has no historical period. These aggregate counts do not reveal rival teams' quiet territory locations.
* Do I need Patreon? No. Signed-in DoD players can join through Take part, subject to their character's ability to participate.
* Does territory award extra Essence? Captures do not automatically grant territorial Essence or an additional activity award. Normal DoD rewards continue under their usual rules.
* Can I fight without joining Realm? Ordinary combat still follows the area's rules, but you do not move the Realm bar or earn its contribution credit.
* Does closing the website stop participation? No. Turn off Take part to opt out. Logging off or detaching removes in-world influence but keeps that saved choice and unused flags.
* What time does the website use? SLT, including its daylight-saving changes. Days start at midnight, weeks on Monday, and months follow the SLT calendar.

Each measure is its own ranking; there is no combined Realm score. Supporting figures beside a result give context but are not added together to create the rank.
Detailed rules
Player rankings
Use these explanations when you need to check a specific battle rule.

# Open Player rankings.
What happens if the planter leaves, flies, or dies?
# Choose the measure and time period.
# Search for a player, or choose Find me for your own standing.
# Open a player name to visit their profile where a link is available.

Measure !! What it compares
Situation !! What happens
Captures helped || Successful captures for which the player earned help credit.
Successful flags || Completed captures from flags planted by the player.
Defenses helped || Successful defenses for which the player earned help credit.
The planter dies, including from hunger || The flag breaks at the next battle update, even with teammates present.
Time attacking || The player's counted attacking time.
The planter flies, sits, crouches, falls, or moves too fast while still present || Their own influence stops. Grounded teammates can keep advancing and earning time. This alone does not break the flag.
Time defending || The player's counted defending time.
The planter leaves, enters a safe area, detaches the HUD, opts out, changes teams, or loses connection || Forward progress stops. Teammates can resist opponents and hold progress, but cannot replace the planter.

All player measures offer Today, This week, This month, and All time. A successful planter can appear in both Captures helped and Successful flags when they qualify for both.
With a flag planted, an absent planter also stops attackers draining the owner's control. Defenders can still restore it; during a claim, opponents can still push the claim down.

Understand both ranking boards
Progress resumes when the original planter returns and can take part on the flag's team, provided the flag survives. Holding progress during their absence gives flag teammates no new attacking or capture-help time.

The leading entries appear on a podium on the first unfiltered page. Further entries appear below it. Equal results share a rank and medal tier. Player names can show the display name with the Second Life username beneath it; team and player names link to their corresponding profiles where available.
When does a flag break?
Find me and Find my team clear an active search, open the page containing your entry, and highlight it briefly. If you or your team have no ranked result for the selected measure and period, the page explains that instead.
* Planter death: at the next battle update.
* Absence: after 30 continuous seconds with no flag teammate able to help and the game no longer able to confirm the planter is in the region.
* Claim defeated: after 20 continuous seconds at zero while the flag team remains outnumbered. A tie at zero does not start this timer.
* Full owner recovery: restoring control to 100% repels a planted flag.

Both boards start with This week. If that first weekly view has no results, it may switch to All time. You can still deliberately choose an empty period yourself.
Returning teammates can stop the absence countdown, but forward progress still needs the original planter. A successful plant is not refunded when its flag breaks. Find the recorded cause under My campaign → History → View attempt.

My campaign: attack-alert sound
We reached zero. Why do the defenders still own it?
# Open My campaign.
The owner's control and your flag's claim are different stages. At zero control, a planted flag begins its claim. Only a completed 100% claim changes ownership.
# Under Settings, find Attack alert sound.
# Turn it on or off and wait for the saved confirmation.

This controls only the sound your HUD plays when an enemy plants a flag in territory your team owns. The chat alert is still sent. The choice is yours alone and does not change teammates' sounds, your participation choice, or your HUD's usual sound options.
Without a flag, the owner keeps the region and can restore control. If an enemy claim breaks before winning, the owner still holds the region at zero.

The sound choice starts on unless you change it. You can save it while opted out; doing so does not opt you in. Unknown means the page cannot confirm how it is set. Use Check again when offered instead of treating that state as off.
How quickly does the bar move?
My campaign: History
Active battles normally update every two seconds. Each extra player on one side gives one point of advantage, up to four points per update. Ties hold the bar still.

The History section below Settings shows your own completed participation and flag results. It includes attempts where you planted the flag or contributed.
During owner control, all non-owner teams combine against the owner. During a claim, everyone outside the flag's team opposes it.

# Choose Today, This week, This month, or All time.
An uninterrupted full claim takes about 200 seconds with one unopposed player or 50 seconds at maximum advantage. Draining a full enemy bar and filling a claim takes about 400 or 100 seconds, plus planting and delays. These are examples; changing numbers and interruptions affect the pace.
# Choose All, Captures, Defenses, or Broken flags under Results.
# Search by region name if needed.
# Read a card's region, completion time, team, role, result, and recorded time.
# Choose View attempt for the detail window.

Roles include Flag planter, Attacker, Defender, and Participant. Results can include Capture helped, Defense helped, Your flag captured, Your flag broke, and Your flag was repelled. One card may carry several results, such as both capture-help credit and a successful planted flag.
When do defense and protection count?
The attempt window shows Recorded events with their times and Contributors with their help result and attacking or defending time. Contributor names can link to player profiles. Longer contributor lists offer Previous and Next.
Protection lasts 15 minutes after a completed capture or full recovery from a flagged attack. It prevents Realm sieges and plants, not ordinary combat.

A recorded planter-death break can appear as Flag broken — planter died. Close the window with Close attempt, its close button, or Escape. Your history is not a global list of every battle, and losing or breaking a flag does not necessarily earn success credit.
If a flag breaks while control is damaged, restore control to 100% to receive protection. Restoring a siege that never planted a flag gives neither this protection nor a successful flag defense. Breaking a flag on Unclaimed land does not award a defense to a team that never owned it.

Search, pages, and phone controls
Why did I not earn capture or defense credit?
# Enter a name in the relevant search field.
* Capture helped: at least 30 seconds helping the winning flag team during that planted attempt. Earlier siege time does not count toward that flag's help requirement.
# Choose Search or press Enter to apply it.
* Defense helped: normally 30 seconds helping the owner during a flagged attempt it survives. If planter death or team absence breaks the flag, a defender still counted when it breaks can qualify with 20 seconds.
# To remove the search, empty the field and submit again.
* Successful flags: your own planted flag completes a capture. You can also earn capture-help credit.
# Use Per page to choose 5, 10, or 25 entries; the usual starting choice is 10.
# Use Previous and Next to move between pages.

Changing filters or page size returns you to page one. Page navigation returns you to the list heading; contributor-page navigation returns the attempt window to its top.
Tied active battles can earn fighting time. Quiet ownership, protection, empty Unclaimed land, and time when you cannot take part do not. Sieging before a plant can earn attacking time.

On a phone, scroll the tab strip sideways or use Scroll page tabs to reach all five tabs. The participation panel is below the selected tab's content. View my results there provides another way to reach My campaign.
Leaving or dying after valid help keeps that earlier contribution. A participation suspension at the attempt's finish blocks personal capture or defense success credit. Arriving at the last moment does not guarantee credit; recorded results can also take time to appear.

The selected main tab is remembered when you refresh in the same browser tab. Ranking filters and page numbers can return to their starting choices.
What happens when everyone leaves or changes teams?
Times, updates, and unavailable information
Ownership remains. Quiet control does not heal or decay automatically. An unflagged siege can settle after 30 seconds when enemies are gone and control is full or no owner remains; at zero with nobody to restore it, it can settle immediately. The remaining control is kept.

Dates and times use Second Life Time (SLT). Today begins at SLT midnight, weeks begin Monday, and month views use the SLT calendar month.
Changing allegiance changes the team you help. A planted flag keeps its original team; its planter must return on that team to resume progress. Earlier results stay with the team helped at the time. Your team follows this order:

While you are looking at an active region tab, it normally refreshes about every 15 seconds. Rankings, historical totals, and completed attempts can take longer to appear; allow roughly 15 minutes for recorded results to catch up. A team change can also take a short time to appear. During a fight, follow your current HUD state.

I cannot find the new HUD controls
# Make sure you are wearing the updated DoD HUD with Realm controls.
# Click the settings button and choose Action bar. Your usual options are now reached by choosing Settings from that first menu.
# Open the Bag using the button at the Action Bar's left end.
# If part of the bar is off screen, bring the main HUD into view using its usual movement control, then drag the bar's right-hand movement handle to a reachable position.

If the controls remain missing or unresponsive after the HUD reconnects, ask game support for help. Include the visible message and what you were trying to do.

Why is Use or Lay Siege missing?
# Check Take part and your in-game availability on the website.
# Check that you carry a flag.
# Stand on a supporting surface in a permitted area and allow the HUD to update.
# Read the region's state and bar.
# Check whether another flag is already planted.

Use is available for Unclaimed territory or an enemy-controlled region at 50% or below. It is blocked in your own territory, safe areas, protected regions, and locations where capture is unavailable. Lay Siege needs an enemy-controlled region and a carried flag, but spends none. At zero control, plant directly instead of laying siege.

The dialog can also need fresh information after you arrive, land, or reconnect. Close and reopen it after the HUD updates.

Why am I not moving the bar?
# Check for Sanctuary, Your influence fades, Too swift, or an availability message.
# Remain alive, on foot, grounded, and at ordinary movement speed.
# Make sure you are in the same region as the battle, outside its safe areas.
# Allow a fresh update after landing or teleporting.
# Check the eligible numbers on both sides and the original planter's situation.

Equal eligible numbers hold the bar still. People who are flying, sitting, crouching, falling, too fast, opted out, or otherwise unable to participate do not add influence just by being nearby.

After a flag is planted, its original planter must remain alive and in the region for forward progress. Grounded teammates can continue while that planter is only airborne or seated in the region, but cannot replace a planter who has left or lost valid presence.

Can we win while our planter flies?
Yes, if the original planter remains alive and confirmed in the region and eligible grounded teammates are moving the claim. The planter's own influence stops while airborne, seated, crouching, or too fast. That alone does not break the flag.

If the planter leaves, enters a safe area, detaches, opts out, changes away from the flag's team, or loses a working connection, forward progress stops. If the planter dies, the flag breaks at the next capture update even when teammates remain.

We reached zero. Why do the defenders still own the region?
Zero is the end of the owner's control bar, not a completed capture. With a flag planted, the display switches to that flag team's claim. Fill this new claim to 100% to take ownership.

Without a flag, the owners keep the region at zero and can refill it. Plant a flag to begin your claim. If an enemy claim breaks before reaching 100%, the old owner keeps the region.

How do we break a flag?
Fight its planter where ordinary combat allows, refill the owner's control to 100%, or push a claim to zero and keep its team outnumbered for the required time. Complete flag-team absence can also break it.

There is no separate flag object you must rez, click, or attack. See Capturing and Defending for the 20-second outnumbered and 30-second absence rules.

Does Protected make me immune to combat?
No. The 15-minute protection prevents a new Realm siege or plant. Ordinary combat still follows the area's normal rules.

Breaking an enemy flag while your control is damaged does not instantly protect the region. Refill to 100% after that flagged attack. Refilling a siege that never planted a flag does not grant this protection.

What does Claimed by The Darkness mean?
It is the display for an unclaimed safe location. It does not mean there is a rival team called The Darkness that you can defeat to capture it. Sanctuary · your influence sleeps means your current location blocks Realm influence.

Why did my flag break?
Check the attempt's recorded events under My campaign → History → View attempt, when the result is available.

Common causes are the original planter dying, the flag team being absent, the claim remaining at zero while outnumbered, or defenders recovering to 100%. A successful plant spends its flag even when the attempt fails. Unused flags in your Bag are kept through death.

Why have I not earned another flag?
# Confirm you are opted in and able to earn, alive, wearing a working updated HUD, and in Uphill, the current qualifying system-land location.
# Check your Discord verification for system-land rewards.
# Allow the roughly five-minute checks to confirm your time.
# Check whether you have earned two flags today or already carry six.

The milestones are 30 and 60 verified minutes total that SLT day. Offline time and unconfirmed gaps do not count. If your Bag was full, spend a flag and complete another successful check the same day to collect any remaining earned entitlement.

See Flags for the daily boundary and what happens when you opt out and rejoin.

Why did I not receive capture or defense help credit?
Capture help normally needs 30 seconds of counted help during the successful planted attempt. Time spent sieging before the plant does not count toward that flag's capture assist.

Defense help normally needs 30 seconds during a flagged attempt the owner survives. A defender still counted when a flag breaks because of planter death or team absence can qualify with 20 seconds. Arriving at the last moment does not guarantee credit.

Quiet ownership, protection, empty Unclaimed territory, and time when you cannot count do not earn fighting time. Also allow completed results time to appear on the website.

Why is our battle missing from Attack feed?
The feed shows planted flag attacks against existing owners. It excludes pre-flag sieges and flags claiming Unclaimed land. Check Your team's regions for your team's Unclaimed capture in progress.

An attack leaves the feed when its flag finishes or breaks. A delayed or unavailable feed has its own message, so do not treat that as proof no attack exists.

Why does Lost regions still list a region we recovered?
It is a history of losses, not a list of territory your team currently lacks. Separate losses can give the same region several entries.

Region lost records a completed enemy capture. Control reached zero is an older record whose card explicitly says capture is not confirmed. Do not treat that old zero-control entry as the current rule for losing territory.

The HUD and website disagree
Use the HUD's current state during play. Region cards normally update about every 15 seconds while that tab is active. Rankings, team historical totals, and completed history can take roughly 15 minutes to catch up. Team changes can also take a short time to appear.

# Read any delayed-information notice.
# Give the next update time to arrive.
# Use Try again if offered after a failed load.
# For an uncertain switch save, use Retry or Check current setting rather than repeatedly changing it.

Unavailable is not zero, and an error is not an empty result list.

How do I turn off the attack sound?
# Open the website's My campaign tab.
# Under Settings, turn Attack alert sound off.
# Wait for the saved confirmation.

This changes your Realm attack sound only. The chat alert remains, teammates keep their own choices, and your Take part setting stays as it was.

Do I need Patreon to join?
No. Realm Domination is available to signed-in DoD players. Join using Take part on its website page and meet the in-world participation requirements.

Does holding territory earn extra Essence?
Realm captures do not automatically pay territorial Essence or an additional activity award. Realm standings track their named measures separately; there is no combined Realm score. Normal DoD rewards continue under their usual rules.

Can I fight alone or without my own flag?
An Outlaw without a Dynasty is their own Realm team and can play alone. Any eligible player can help an existing attack or defense without carrying a flag. You need a carried flag to begin Lay Siege, and a successful Use spends one.

Does hiding the bar or closing the website stop participation?
No. Use Take part on the website to opt out. Logging off or detaching your HUD removes your in-world influence, but does not erase that saved choice or your unused flags.

A complete guide to Realm Domination, the Action Bar and Bag, and the website. For existing DoD players.

Realm Domination

Realm Domination is DoD's team territory game in Second Life. Claim regions for your team, attack rival territory, and defend what you hold.

Play through the Action Bar and Bag. Use the website to join, find battles, and check your team's territory and results.

Where to play

Realm Domination follows DoD's gridwide play: any sim in Second Life, except System Land and safe zones. System Land is a sanctuary where you earn flags alongside Essence.

Get started

 1. Wear your DoD HUD and sign in to the DoD website.
 2. Open Gameplay → Realm Domination and turn on Take part. Wait for the saved confirmation.
 3. Click the HUD's settings button and choose Action bar.
 4. Earn a flag on System Land, then travel to the region you want to capture.

Flags arrive at 30 and 60 verified minutes on System Land: two daily, with six carried at most.

Stay alive and on your feet, outside safe zones. Standing, walking, and normal running count toward a battle. Flying, sitting, and crouching do not.

You can help an existing attack or defense without carrying a flag.

Lay Siege: weaken enemy territory

 1. In an enemy-held region, open your flag from the Bag or a shortcut.
 2. Choose Lay Siege. You need to carry a flag, but this does not spend it.
 3. Outnumber the defenders to lower their control to 50% or below.

Unclaimed territory does not need a siege. If enemy control is already at zero, plant directly.

Use: plant and capture

 1. In an Unclaimed region, or enemy territory at 50% or below, open your flag.
 2. Choose Use. A successful plant spends one flag.
 3. Keep the player who planted it alive and in the region.
 4. Outnumber your opponents. In enemy territory, first drain the owner's control to zero, then fill your team's claim to 100%.

The region changes owner only when that claim reaches 100%. A captured region receives 15 minutes of protection from new Realm attacks.

Your team

Your Realm team follows your political allegiance automatically. Check its name under Your team's regions on the website.

Dynasty means a House, Pack, Coven, or Order. Biological ancestry does not choose your team. See Help and FAQ for the allegiance groups.

Action Bar and Bag

The Action Bar gives you shortcuts to your flags. The Bag holds them, and the Realm display above the bar shows the battle in your region.

Open and close the controls

 1. Click the HUD's settings button.
 2. Choose Action bar to show the Action Bar and Realm display.
 3. Click the Bag button at the bar's left end to open your Bag.

Click the Bag button again to close it. Choose Action bar again to hide all three controls. Choose Settings from the HUD's menu for the main HUD options.

Hiding the bar does not stop your participation. To leave Realm Domination, turn off Take part on the website.

Move the Action Bar

 1. Press and hold the movement handle at the right end.
 2. Drag the bar where you want it.
 3. Release the handle.

The Bag and Realm display move with it. Your position, shortcuts, and open-or-closed bar choice are saved; the Bag starts closed when you return. If you cannot reach the handle, move the main HUD into view using its usual movement control first.

Open your flags

 1. Open the Bag.
 2. Click the flag stack to open Flag ×N, where N is your flag count.
 3. Choose the action you need.
Control What it does
Lay Siege Starts a siege in enemy territory without spending a flag.
Use Plants a flag when the region allows it. A successful plant spends one flag.
Assign Places a flag shortcut on the Action Bar.
Close Closes the dialog. From the Bag, it also closes the Bag.

Actions appear only when you can use them. If you see Stand on the ground first, land or stand up, let the display refresh, and reopen the dialog. The dialog closes after 30 seconds.

See Capturing and Defending for when to choose Lay Siege or Use.

Assign or clear a shortcut

 1. Open the flag stack and choose Assign.
 2. Click the Action Bar slot you want to use.
 3. Click that slot whenever you want to open your flag actions.

From a shortcut's dialog, choose Clear to remove the shortcut. This keeps your flags. Close closes that dialog only. If you spend your last flag, an assigned shortcut can become useful again when you earn more.

The bar has 12 slots, in two rows of six. The Bag has 12 cells, three across and four down, with page arrows. All flags share one stack; cells and slots do not increase your carrying limit. Page arrows do not create more flags or pages.

Read the Realm display

Click the display for fuller information in chat when a team name is shortened.

Display Meaning
Unclaimed No team owns the region.
Controlled The bar shows the owner's control.
Under siege Players are weakening the owner without a planted flag.
Under attack A flag is planted against the owner; the bar still shows the owner's control.
Contested The bar shows the planted flag team's claim. Held by names any existing owner until the claim reaches 100%.
Protected A completed capture or defense has temporary Realm protection.

Sanctuary · your influence sleeps means you are on System Land or in a safe zone. Your influence fades or Too swift means you are not currently helping move the bar. Stand or move normally on the ground.

After arrival, Loading region… can appear briefly. For Reconnecting to Realm… or Realm display unavailable, wait for the display to reconnect before planting. Other availability messages tell you whether you need to join or cannot currently take part.

Follow the display during play. Chat notices such as Siege begun, Flag planted, and Region captured describe events that have already happened. See Help and FAQ if progress stalls.

When an enemy plants in your team's territory, opted-in teammates with connected HUDs receive an alert naming the planter and linking to the region's map, even from another sim. A siege without a flag does not send this alert.

Flags

Carry a flag to start Lay Siege, or spend one with Use to plant a capture flag. You do not need your own flag to help an attack or defense already underway.

Earn flags on System Land

 1. Turn on Take part on the Realm Domination website page.
 2. Wear your DoD HUD, stay alive, and visit System Land.
 3. Meet its reward requirements, including Discord verification when requested.
 4. Spend time there and check your Bag for flags. The website also shows Flags carried.

Flags are earned alongside Essence. The HUD confirms your time through checks roughly every five minutes, so a reward may arrive after the exact minute you expect. Offline time and gaps in confirmed presence do not count.

Milestone or limit Amount
First flag 30 verified minutes
Second flag 60 verified minutes total that day
Daily earning limit 2 flags
Carrying limit 6 flags
Daily reset Midnight Second Life Time (SLT)

The second milestone is 60 minutes total, not another hour after the first flag. Essence multipliers and your daily Essence cap do not change flag earning.

Lay Siege

 1. Travel to enemy territory outside System Land and safe zones.
 2. Open your flag from the Bag or an assigned shortcut.
 3. Choose Lay Siege and help lower the owner's control.

You must carry a flag, but Lay Siege spends none.

Use: plant a flag

 1. Find Unclaimed territory or enemy territory at 50% or below.
 2. Open your flag and choose Use.
 3. Keep the planter alive and in the region while your team completes the capture.

A successful plant spends one flag. A refused plant spends none. You cannot plant in your own territory, on System Land, in safe zones, during capture protection, or while another flag is planted there.

See Capturing and Defending for the full capture steps.

Keep unused flags

Unused flags stay in your Bag through death, relogging, allegiance changes, and opting out. You cannot give them to another player. A spent flag is not refunded if its capture fails.

At six flags, make space by successfully planting one. Return to System Land and complete another check that same SLT day to collect any remaining flags you earned that day. Flags not collected expire at the daily reset; flags already in your Bag remain.

Turning off Take part stops earning. Rejoining keeps that day's earned flags counted toward the two-flag limit, but restarts your counted earning minutes. A participation suspension keeps unused flags while freezing earning and use.

For missing rewards, see Help and FAQ. For shortcuts and Bag controls, see Action Bar and Bag.

Capturing and Defending

Win a region by filling your planted flag's claim to 100%. In enemy territory, you first weaken the owner, then build your claim. Reaching zero on the owner's bar alone does not capture it.

Before you fight

 1. Turn on Take part and wear your DoD HUD.
 2. Meet in the same sim, outside System Land and safe zones.
 3. Stay alive and on foot. Stand, walk, or run normally on the ground, a floor, or a platform.
 4. Choose your flag planter and make sure they carry a flag.

The battle covers the whole region. Teammates can spread across parcels outside safe areas; there is no flag circle to stand in. No flag object needs to be rezzed, so a no-build parcel does not block play.

More players who can take part give their side an advantage. Equal numbers hold the bar still. Fighting opponents helps remove them from the count.

Capture Unclaimed territory

 1. Open your flag and choose Use. A successful plant spends one flag.
 2. Keep the planter alive and in the region.
 3. Outnumber players outside your flag's team and fill your claim to 100%.

Your team then owns the region and receives 15 minutes of capture protection.

Capture enemy territory

Lay Siege: weaken the owner

 1. Open your flag and choose Lay Siege. Carrying a flag is required, but no flag is spent.
 2. Outnumber the defenders to lower the owner's control.
 3. At 50% or below, you can plant.

During this stage, everyone outside the owner's team helps weaken it. Simply visiting a quiet owned region does not start a siege.

Use: plant your flag

 1. Open your flag and choose Use. A successful plant spends one flag.
 2. Protect the planter and continue lowering the owner's control to zero.
 3. When the display becomes Contested, outnumber everyone outside your flag's team and fill your claim to 100%.

Only the planted flag's team can win the claim. Other attacking teams oppose it once the claim starts, so agree who will plant before the assault.

If enemy control is already at zero with no flag planted, choose Use directly. The old owner keeps the region until your claim reaches 100%; Held by identifies that owner.

Protect your planter

The original planter must stay alive and in the region. Teammates cannot take over that role.

Defend your territory

 1. Respond to the attack alert or find the battle on the website.
 2. Bring members of the owning team and outnumber the attackers.
 3. Refill your control to 100%, defeat the flag planter, or push back an enemy claim until its flag breaks.
 4. After the flag breaks, restore any remaining control damage to 100%.

A full recovery from a flagged attack grants 15 minutes of protection. Recovering just above 50% does not repel a planted flag. You cannot attack a separate flag object.

Your team still owns the region during an enemy claim. If that flag breaks, return defenders to rebuild your control from zero.

After a battle

Protection blocks new Realm sieges and plants; ordinary combat still follows the area's rules. Safe zones also block Realm play, but are separate from timed protection.

Ownership stays when protection expires or your team leaves. Damaged control does not repair itself in quiet territory; return to restore it.

Review results under My campaign → History. The Website Guide explains where to find them. The Help and FAQ explains contribution credit and detailed battle rules.

Website Guide

Use the website to join Realm Domination, find battles, check territory, and review results. Siege and capture actions happen in Second Life through the Action Bar and Bag.

Join or leave Realm Domination

 1. Sign in to the DoD website using your HUD password or Enter with In-World Link. Your HUD password is separate from your Second Life account password.
 2. Open Gameplay → Realm Domination.
 3. In Your participation, turn Take part on or off.
 4. Wait for the saved confirmation, then check In-game status.

Your choice stays saved between visits. Closing the page or hiding the Action Bar does not turn it off. Being opted in does not mean you are currently online or helping a battle; follow your in-world display.

Flags carried shows your unused flag balance. View my results opens My campaign.

On a phone, the participation panel is below the selected tab's content. Scroll down to reach it. Scroll the tab strip sideways or use Scroll page tabs to find all five tabs.

Find a battle: Attack feed

 1. Open Attack feed.
 2. Search for a region, or filter by All statuses, Control phase, or Capture phase.
 3. Read the region, defending team, attacking team, and bar.
 4. Choose Teleport to open its Second Life map, then travel there in Second Life.

The shared feed shows planted flag attacks against existing owners. It does not list sieges without flags or claims on Unclaimed land. A listed attack stays until its flag completes, breaks, or is repelled.

Safe zone — attack paused means a whole-region safe zone has frozen that attack.

Find your territory: Your team's regions

 1. Open Your team's regions.
 2. Choose Current regions for holdings and capture attempts, or Lost regions for previous losses.
 3. Search for a region and use the available status or period filters.
 4. Read the card and choose Teleport if you want to travel there.

Current regions includes your team's holdings, holdings under attack, and planted capture attempts—including Unclaimed captures absent from Attack feed. Protection ends in shows timed protection. Safe zone means the whole region blocks Realm play.

The summary shows Held, Under attack, and Capturing, plus historical Captures, Defences, and Regions lost. Current territory is counted now; Today, This week, and All time apply to historical totals. Searching the list does not change the team summary.

Quiet holdings are visible to your team's members. Rival teams can see attacks in the shared feed and aggregate rankings, but those rankings do not reveal your quiet territory locations.

Compare results: rankings

 1. Open Team rankings or Player rankings.
 2. Choose a measure and, where available, a time period.
 3. Search by name, or choose Find my team or Find me.

Team measures include Captures, Defenses, Regions held, Time attacking, and Time defending. Player measures include Captures helped, Successful flags, Defenses helped, and attacking or defending time.

Each measure has its own ranking. Regions held counts present holdings and has no historical period. Other measures offer Today, This week, This month, and All time. Names link to profiles where available.

Review your results: My campaign

 1. Open My campaign and scroll to History.
 2. Choose a time period and All, Captures, Defenses, or Broken flags under Results.
 3. Search for a region if needed.
 4. Choose View attempt on a result card.

The attempt shows Recorded events, Contributors, and their recorded time and help results. Close it with Close attempt, its close button, or Escape.

Your history contains attempts you planted or joined. Your participation panel and personal history are visible only to you.

Set the attack sound

 1. Open My campaign → Settings.
 2. Turn Attack alert sound on or off.
 3. Wait for the saved confirmation.

This saves your sound choice for enemy flags planted in your team's territory. The chat alert remains. It does not change Take part, teammates' sounds, or your other HUD sound settings.

Search and updates

Submit a search with Search or Enter. To clear it, empty the field and submit again. Use Previous, Next, and Per page to browse longer lists.

Times use Second Life Time (SLT). Active region lists normally refresh about every 15 seconds. Rankings and completed results can take roughly 15 minutes to catch up. Follow your Realm display during a fight.

For a failed load, use Try again. For an uncertain saved choice, use Retry or Check current setting when offered. Unavailable or a dash does not mean zero.

See Help and FAQ for missing results and unusual history entries.

Help and FAQ

Start with the message on your Realm display. Find your question below for troubleshooting or detailed rules.

Quick help

I cannot find the Action Bar or Bag

 1. Wear your DoD HUD, click its settings button, and choose Action bar.
 2. Click the Bag button at the Action Bar's left end.
 3. If the movement handle is off screen, move the main HUD into view first, then drag the bar using its right-hand handle.

Wait for reconnection if the controls are unresponsive. If they remain unavailable, contact game support with the visible message and what you were trying to do.

Why is Lay Siege or Use missing?

 1. Check Take part, your in-game availability, and your flag balance.
 2. Stand outside System Land and safe zones, then let the display refresh.
 3. Check the region's owner, control bar, protection, and whether a flag is already planted.

Lay Siege requires enemy territory with control left to drain and a carried flag. Use requires Unclaimed land or enemy control at 50% or below. You cannot plant in your own territory or during protection. Close and reopen the dialog after landing or reconnecting.

Why is the bar not moving?

Stay alive, opted in, and on foot in the battle's region, outside safe areas. Flying, sitting, crouching, falling, knockback, or excessive speed stops your own influence. Normal Second Life running fits the 5.5 metres-per-second ground-speed limit.

Equal numbers hold the bar still. Each player counts once, even with multiple HUDs. After landing or teleporting, allow a fresh update. If a flag is planted, also check its original planter.

Why have I not earned a flag?

 1. Check Take part, stay alive with your HUD worn, and visit System Land.
 2. Complete any Discord verification requested for its rewards; the DoD Discord link is available.
 3. Allow the roughly five-minute checks to count your presence. The first successful check establishes your arrival; time follows later checks.
 4. Check whether you have earned two today or already carry six.

The milestones are 30 and 60 verified minutes total that SLT day. Offline time does not count. Discord verification for System Land rewards is not a separate requirement for every Realm battle. See Flags for full-Bag and rejoining rules.

What do sanctuary messages mean?

Sanctuary · your influence sleeps means your location blocks Realm play. Claimed by The Darkness describes an unclaimed safe location, not a rival team you can defeat.

System Land is a sanctuary. Other safe zones may cover a parcel, a height range, or a whole region. A safe parcel does not make the whole sim safe. A whole-region safe zone can pause an existing attack, shown as Safe zone — attack paused on the website.

Why is a battle or result missing from the website?

Attack feed shows planted attacks against existing owners. It excludes unflagged sieges and Unclaimed captures; find your team's capture attempts under Your team's regions.

Active lists refresh about every 15 seconds; completed results can take roughly 15 minutes. Team changes may also take a short time. Follow your Realm display during play. Use the offered retry controls for errors; do not repeatedly change Take part to refresh results.

Lost regions is a history, so recovered regions remain listed and separate losses can appear more than once. Region lost means a completed enemy capture. Control reached zero entries explicitly say capture is not confirmed; their recorded bar is not the live region's bar.

A few other questions

 • Do I need Patreon? No. Signed-in DoD players can join through Take part, subject to their character's ability to participate.
 • Does territory award extra Essence? Captures do not automatically grant territorial Essence or an additional activity award. Normal DoD rewards continue under their usual rules.
 • Can I fight without joining Realm? Ordinary combat still follows the area's rules, but you do not move the Realm bar or earn its contribution credit.
 • Does closing the website stop participation? No. Turn off Take part to opt out. Logging off or detaching removes in-world influence but keeps that saved choice and unused flags.
 • What time does the website use? SLT, including its daylight-saving changes. Days start at midnight, weeks on Monday, and months follow the SLT calendar.

Detailed rules

Use these explanations when you need to check a specific battle rule.

What happens if the planter leaves, flies, or dies?

Situation What happens
The planter dies, including from hunger The flag breaks at the next battle update, even with teammates present.
The planter flies, sits, crouches, falls, or moves too fast while still present Their own influence stops. Grounded teammates can keep advancing and earning time. This alone does not break the flag.
The planter leaves, enters a safe area, detaches the HUD, opts out, changes teams, or loses connection Forward progress stops. Teammates can resist opponents and hold progress, but cannot replace the planter.

With a flag planted, an absent planter also stops attackers draining the owner's control. Defenders can still restore it; during a claim, opponents can still push the claim down.

Progress resumes when the original planter returns and can take part on the flag's team, provided the flag survives. Holding progress during their absence gives flag teammates no new attacking or capture-help time.

When does a flag break?

 • Planter death: at the next battle update.
 • Absence: after 30 continuous seconds with no flag teammate able to help and the game no longer able to confirm the planter is in the region.
 • Claim defeated: after 20 continuous seconds at zero while the flag team remains outnumbered. A tie at zero does not start this timer.
 • Full owner recovery: restoring control to 100% repels a planted flag.

Returning teammates can stop the absence countdown, but forward progress still needs the original planter. A successful plant is not refunded when its flag breaks. Find the recorded cause under My campaign → History → View attempt.

We reached zero. Why do the defenders still own it?

The owner's control and your flag's claim are different stages. At zero control, a planted flag begins its claim. Only a completed 100% claim changes ownership.

Without a flag, the owner keeps the region and can restore control. If an enemy claim breaks before winning, the owner still holds the region at zero.

How quickly does the bar move?

Active battles normally update every two seconds. Each extra player on one side gives one point of advantage, up to four points per update. Ties hold the bar still.

During owner control, all non-owner teams combine against the owner. During a claim, everyone outside the flag's team opposes it.

When do defense and protection count?

Protection lasts 15 minutes after a completed capture or full recovery from a flagged attack. It prevents Realm sieges and plants, not ordinary combat.

If a flag breaks while control is damaged, restore control to 100% to receive protection. Restoring a siege that never planted a flag gives neither this protection nor a successful flag defense. Breaking a flag on Unclaimed land does not award a defense to a team that never owned it.

Why did I not earn capture or defense credit?

 • Capture helped: at least 30 seconds helping the winning flag team during that planted attempt. Earlier siege time does not count toward that flag's help requirement.
 • Defense helped: normally 30 seconds helping the owner during a flagged attempt it survives. If planter death or team absence breaks the flag, a defender still counted when it breaks can qualify with 20 seconds.
 • Successful flags: your own planted flag completes a capture. You can also earn capture-help credit.

Tied active battles can earn fighting time. Quiet ownership, protection, empty Unclaimed land, and time when you cannot take part do not. Sieging before a plant can earn attacking time.

Leaving or dying after valid help keeps that earlier contribution. A participation suspension at the attempt's finish blocks personal capture or defense success credit. Arriving at the last moment does not guarantee credit; recorded results can also take time to appear.

What happens when everyone leaves or changes teams?

Ownership remains. Quiet control does not heal or decay automatically. An unflagged siege can settle after 30 seconds when enemies are gone and control is full or no owner remains; at zero with nobody to restore it, it can settle immediately. The remaining control is kept.

Changing allegiance changes the team you help. A planted flag keeps its original team; its planter must return on that team to resume progress. Earlier results stay with the team helped at the time. Your team follows this order:

Allegiance Realm team
Clan following a Bloodline leader Clans following that leader
Clan without a Bloodline leader That Clan
Dynasty without a Clan That Dynasty
Outlaw without a Dynasty Yourself
