Legacy System

Legacy is a cumulative score representing the strength, depth, and activity of your character's family tree.
Legacy rewards players who build a genuine line of active descendants. It is available to every species and grows over time through weekly awards.
Legacy at a Glance
- Direct children award 0 Legacy. They begin your family line but must create descendants of their own before the line produces Legacy.
- Grandchildren and deeper descendants award Legacy. Each generation becomes more valuable as the family tree grows deeper.
- Descendants must be active. A descendant must be alive and have at least 20% Dark Rating to qualify.
- Dark Rating affects value. A descendant with 50% Dark Rating provides half of their available Legacy value.
- A widening tree earns bonuses. You receive a Pyramid Bonus when a deeper generation contains more eligible descendants than the generation above it.
- Legacy is awarded weekly. The calculation occurs every Monday at approximately 12:15 a.m. Second Life Time.
- Legacy is cumulative. Weekly awards are added to your existing total instead of replacing it.
- Your status matters. Being Slain or in a Coma causes a penalty, while Hibernation freezes your score.
- Legacy cannot become negative. The lowest possible total is zero.
Family-Tree Diagram
The following text diagram shows where Legacy begins:
YOU
│
└── +1 Direct Children
│ Value: 0
│
└── +2 Grandchildren
│ Value: 50–100 each
│
└── +3 Great-Grandchildren
│ Value: 200–500 each
│
└── +4 Great-Great-Grandchildren
│ Value: 500–1,000 each
│
└── +5 and Deeper
Value: 1,000 each
These values represent a descendant with 100% Dark Rating. A lower Dark Rating reduces the amount they provide.
Who Qualifies?
A descendant contributes to your Legacy when they meet both requirements:
- They are alive.
- Their Dark Rating is at least 20%.
The following descendants do not contribute:
- Descendants with less than 20% Dark Rating
- Slain or dead descendants
- Descendants in a Coma or dead from hunger
- Hibernating or sleeping descendants
- Banned descendants
There is currently no minimum age requirement. A descendant's activity matters more than their age.
All species can contribute to the same family tree. A descendant does not need to be the same species as their ancestor.
Descendant Values
| Family-Tree Depth | Relationship | Normal Value | Pyramid Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| +1 | Direct child | 0 | 0 |
| +2 | Grandchild | 50 | 100 |
| +3 | Great-grandchild | 200 | 500 |
| +4 | Great-great-grandchild | 500 | 1,000 |
| +5 or deeper | Later descendant | 1,000 | 1,000 |
The values in this table assume that the descendant has 100% Dark Rating.
Dark Rating and Legacy
Dark Rating measures a player's activity during the most recent 28 Second Life Time calendar days.
- Below 20% — The descendant does not qualify.
- 20% — The descendant provides 20% of their available value.
- 50% — The descendant provides half of their available value.
- 75% — The descendant provides three-quarters of their available value.
- 100% — The descendant provides their full available value.
For example:
Available Legacy value: 1,000 Descendant's Dark Rating: 50% Legacy provided: 500
Because Dark Rating changes over time, the same family tree may produce a different award each week.
The Pyramid Bonus
The Pyramid Bonus rewards family trees that become wider as they grow deeper.
- Grandchildren receive their Pyramid value when there are more eligible great-grandchildren than eligible grandchildren.
- Great-grandchildren receive their Pyramid value when there are more eligible great-great-grandchildren than eligible great-grandchildren.
- 'Great-great-grandchildren receive their Pyramid value
